My nephew plays the drums in his highschool band, school colors (obviously) red, white and blue. Details are in fondant, painted with pearl luster dust.

Chocolate/vanilla/oreo/ganache

I made this cake for my husband's grandmother's birthday. I had watched the latest Food Network Challenge with the Sweet 16 cakes and thought the guy's cake with all the different flavors sounded so good, so I tried to recreate it. I had alternating flavors of dark chocolate cake, oreo filling, vanilla cake, chocolate ganache, vanilla cake, oreo filling and dark chocolate cake. I added melted white chocolate to my regular buttercream and topped it all off with some chocolate ganache. Talk about heaven!

Thank Heaven For Lil' Girls

This is for my brother and sis-in-law's baby shower. 6 in. and 10 in. champagne cake with buttercream icing. I based the design on the bedding they chose, Thank Heaven for Lil' Girls. This was my first time using gumpaste and making the booties. The booties and name plaque were all from gumpaste.

Farm Cake

This was for my son's 2nd birthday. He is OBSESSED with horses, to put it mildly! I made this to resemble the Fisher Price Little People figures. He loved it! It was a 12x18 butter cake with regular buttercream icing, freehanded drawings. I was in a rush and didn't get to finish all the details, like grass, a haystack, etc., but was happy with it anyway.

Cake For Horse Show Dinner

Disney Princesses

This was so hard to make. 12x18 chocolate cake with buttercream icing. My icing wouldn't crust for some reason, so I couldn't smooth it well. Also, the facial details are so small and delicate, I had a terrible time getting it to look right. In the end, I was pleased with all except the eyes - they look kind of goofy. But it was the best I could do! :)

Circles Gift Cake

9" French vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and fondant circles and bow. First time doing the bow. I was quite pleased with how this one came out! The color in the picture isn't accurate, though. It was actually a nice soft shade of yellow with purple decorations.

Nana's 83Rd Birthday

This was for my husband's grandmother's 83rd birthday a couple of weeks ago. I was inspired by several cakes on this site for this design. It is a scratch butter cake (from WBH) with buttercream icing, fondant flowers, and ribbon. When I carried the cake in, she almost cried and said she'd never had such a beautiful birthday cake in her life. :)
