I've been wanting to try my hand at nasturtiums for a long time. I entered this for a competition for the section 'From my garden'. Thanks to Alan Dunns' wonderful books on making sugar flowers. Ohnoono was so kind to answer my call for help on my first ever try at sculpting a face. I made a worm on the signpost and burnt some holes in some of the leaves to look like worm holes. I really had fun!
My client fell in love with this lovely design and so did I . Thanks to Sugar Creations
I love the dark coloured sweatpeas. I had one like this in my garden so I took it apart and worked from templates.
I love teddies. This one's head can turn so when I put him on a cake I can turn his face to face either side.
Tractor And Farm
My grandson loves tractors. I really had to look for ideas as I had no clue how to make a tractor. Debbie Brown, google and of course CC came to the rescue. I used real doughnuts for the wheels.
First Time Everything
I started from scratch in 2007. I was lucky enough to find a wonderful class and this was the end product.
I got this lovely idea from gossimerwings. She used BC and airbrush. Here is my fondant version. I covered easter eggs for the turtles.
Chocolate Birthday Cake
Chocolate cake made for a guy who turned 30. The shadow makes it look like 300! My first try at cake collars. Very nerve wracking.
Rugby -Sharks Supporter.
I know this is not soccer but I can't put our national sport RUGBY under misc sport!!! Anyway, made for a chap who is crazy about the Sharks.
Stralitzia Birthday Cake
This was for a friend of mine who turned 60. I asked him what his favourite flower was.. BIG mistake. Anyway it proved quite a challange as did the request for 6 additional names of guests who also shared the same birhday date.
Zebra Striped Birthday Cake.
I made this for a friend who turned 50... 5 feathers. Thanks for all the inspiration from CC and Sharon Zambito for the DvD on bows. The bottom layer was too short so I extended the stripes to the board. I think it worked.
My first entry for a competition. I came 2nd. All gumpaste, I only used a face mould for the baby. I searched everywhere and could not find a pink magnolia so luckly I had some flowering in the garden. I dissembled them and worked from templates.
Chess Board Birthday Cake
The board was painted and I tried to make a marbled fondant to look like wood. The chess pieces are chocolate.
