Four Layers Covered In Homemade Mmf I Learned The Hard Way That Gumpaste Figures Can Be Way Too Heavy To Put On Top Of A Cake The Tree Bra
Four layers covered in homemade MMF. I learned the hard way that gumpaste figures can be WAY too heavy to put on top of a cake. The tree branch (yes, that's what that is :)) is made of chocolate clay and the leaves are fondant (the light ones) and sugar sheetz (the dark ones). Thanks for looking!

Patriotic Nine Birthday Cake
I made this for my son's 9th birthday which falls on July 4th weekend. He designed the cake idea on paper and I followed his lead. To make this I baked two 9x13"s, filled and layered them before I carved the cake into the shape of a 9. (Note: To make the template for the 9, I simply typed in a "9" in MS Word on my PC. Then I printed and enlarged it on my copy machine until it was 13" long. Worked great!) I may try to add sparkler candles or something to this more Oomph! Thanks for looking.

Pokemon ~ Aggron
Aggron is my 6-year-old son's favorite Pokemon character, and so that's what he wanted on his cake this year. This is all buttercream with a frozen BC transfer. It was pretty easy -- the key is to leave the transfer in the freezer for at least a few hours to allow it to harden. My son was pleased. I just wish I hadn't attempted to free-hand the writing. Never again!

Bowling Alley Lane
This is two 9x13s placed end-to-end to create a 26"-long bowling lane. I used vanilla buttercream tinted brown with some darker brown streaked in for a wood effect. I used the rack from my toaster oven to create the lines. The pins are plastic (store-bought) and the balls are jumbo gumballs. Fun! Frank Sinatra
This is for my mother's 72nd birthday, which happens to be on Valentine's Day. She's a HUGE Sinatra fan. My 8-year-old son came up with the idea to do a Frankie cake, but I have to give credit to Sisa on this site for the image idea. This is all buttercream with a frozen buttercream transfer. Thanks for looking!

Soccer Ball On Grass
This is a Cupcake-Cake -- 24 regular size cupcakes lined up in a rectangular pattern and then slathered with buttercream frosting. The secret to making this work is to pack the cupcakes in tight before you add the frosting. Otherwise the frosting sinks down in between cupcakes and it's impossible to get a flat surface. The grass took forever, but it's worth it for the realistic effect!
