First Birthday Cake!
Old photo of a cake I made a few years ago. The inspiration for this cake was the party invitation!! This was one of the first cakes I made. I wasn't really sure what I was doing, as you cans see from the buckles in the fondant on the top cake!! I was so distracted that I forgot to put any frosting on the top cake before I applied the fondant!! Not ever sure how the fondant stayed on!!

75Th Birthday Cake
I made this 2 years ago for a lovely lady who turned 75. 6, 8, & 10 inch vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling, frosted with buttercream. At the time I made this cake, I didn't know how to make gumpaste flowers, so ALL of the flowers were purchased from cakedecor.com but I've since learned how to make most of the flowers that are on this cake! I made the white picket fence with simple gumpaste!

18Th Birthday Cake
This original idea for this cake was 'supposed' to be a "gift cake"... but it didn't quite turn out as planned! Oh, well.. the bottom tier is a 10 inch cake, one layer of lemon cake, one layer of orange and one layer of pineapple cake! filled with a vanilla mousse, frosted with vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant (Jennifer Dontz recipe). the top cake is a 6 inch vanilla cake with alternating layers of coconut buttercream and raspberry buttercream, frosted with vanilla buttercream and covered with fondant. the stripes are made from black satin ice fondant, and I colored the teal fondant. the curly Q's are fondant that has gum tragacanth added for stability!

Half Birthday!
this cake was made for a gentleman, a priest, who's birthday was in April, but didn't get to celebrate his birthday until October! so, I was asked to make a cake to commemorate his "half birthday"! so, here it is! it's 2 nine inch cakes, cut in half, then stacked, 4 layers high! covered in white fondant, and a piece of chocolate fondant that I painted with tylose "glue" to make it shine!! the candles were inspired by "Andrea's Cakes"!

Soccer Ball Cake
This was for my sons soccer banquet! this cake was inspired by Amanda Leamons. the bottom two layers were quite simple, frosted in buttercream, but the soccer ball was the biggest pain in the a$$!! the cake part took less than an hour, the soccer ball took an entire DAY!! The soccer ball is actually made from rice crispy treats, covered in a layer of white chocolate, THEN covered in a thin layer of fondant, THEN, I cut out the shapes of the soccer ball and attached with tylose glue! I made this a second time, with a golf ball on top, and it was even more stressful!!

Pink & White Cake
I made this cake for my daughter's college graduation! It was definitely a labor of love! The inspiration for the cake came from a photo of a cake by Sylvia Weinstock.. I don't know exactly how many hours I spent on the flowers but I spent a couple months working on them! I had to drive 7 hours with the cake ..... separated....flowers in one box, cakes in separate boxes!! Everything arrived in one piece, then....after I delived the cake fully assembled, to the restaurant where we held a reception, one of their waiters PUT THEIR FINGERS IN THE CAKE! I was able to repair the finger print with a butter knife!!

Wedgewood Blue Cake
This is a pretty small cake, 3, six inch layers, covered in fondant. I used Jennifer Dontz method and recipe for the fondant and I will never use any other method/recipe! The blue color was achieved by coloring the fondant, and the piping around the sides is royal icing. The large rose on top was inspired by Ron Ben Israels tutorial that is posted on the "Satin Ice" web page!
