This was a chocolate cake for my son and me! The "R" and "A" guys are frosted in buttercream with fondant details. Real m&ms on the top. I had seen sarabarii's m&m cake and thought it would be fun to make for our birthdays! Thanks!
This was for a lady who works in a salon! The cake was pretty big - over a foot wide! Chocolate cake with chocolate filling, covered in fondant. The cord, plug, and plaque are also fondant. All of the lettering is painted by hand.
For some of my husband's coworkers. I saw alyoska's toilet paper cake and asked my husband if they might like something like that, and they loved it! It is a chocolate cake with chocolate filling. The little toilet paper rolls are made from fondant.
I made this for a friend who's daughter wanted a twilight cake for her birthday! All of the figures are made of gum paste. I painted the "twilight" with black food dye and orange extract. I painted the apple the same way with red.

This is a 6" and 10" with BC icing. This is my second attempt at Sugarshack's method for getting the icing smooth with sharp edges. I didn't use the hi-ratio shortening recipe this time, so I think the icing job will improve when I try that next time.
This was for my mother-in-law's last day of class for her second grade class. She wanted me to make a really big cake and write all of the kids' names on it! I put fondant geometric shapes on each piece because that's what they've been learning about. It's a 12x18x4! It was really tall! I used SMBC - I love that stuff! It tastes so much better, and it's easier to smooth!
This was for my voice teacher. She is going away for awhile, and we will miss her! The figures and flowers are gum paste. You can't see it in the picture, but I painted music on the student's music pages and trees on my teacher's sweater. The cakes were 8" and 10". Thanks for looking!
This is a mini version of our friends' wedding cake. It is a 6", 4", and 2"! Really small and cute! They had their formal reception two week earlier with a big cake. I made a mini version for their open house. The flowers and figures are gum paste - inspired by aine2, as always! I copied the bride's dress and bouquet from pictures. The ribbon on the bottom is real, and the "ribbon" on the cake is fondant!
This was for a friend who likes everything Disney and princesses. I wanted a princess theme, focusing on Sleeping Beauty a bit. I made the princess Sleeping Beauty-esque except I made her with dark hair like the birthday girl! I was inspired by aine2's figures as always! The crown and banner are gum paste, but the pillow is cake. Chocolate peanut butter cake with chocolate peanut butter filling. The recipe is posted on CC.
Hmmm... missing something? I realized that I forgot to add nostrils until it was half eaten! So, I added some nostrils just to see how it should have looked! I had a 6" and a 9" left over from another cake with some extra frosting, so I made this cake for our friends. Fondant covered.
This was for the son of a friend from church. He likes snowboarding, plays the drums, and loves his iPod and BlackBerry phone, so here's what I came up with for his cake. The cake is a 9" chocolate with a sculpted ramp. I have pictures of how I do the ramp if anyone would like to see. The figures are all gum paste - they were so fun to make! The iPod and BlackBerry are only about an inch high!
I sculpted a 6" and 9" cake to make this hiking cake. My husband actually worked out the structure of the spiral on paper. I added a wedge of cake and then sculpted some into the cake as well. The bike is leaning on the right side of the cake. All of the decorations are gum paste. A fun cake for a fun lady! The rainbow is made of gum paste, and the coins are fondant painted with luster dust. The board is also covered in fondant with a sparkling green ribbon around the edge, but you can't really see that very well in the picture! Oh, well.
This is my first topsy-turvy cake and my first gum paste bow! I learned a few things for next time, but it was fun to do.
