simple choc. and vanilla cc with a 6" round cake, painted buttercream animals. Baby shower.
My sister asked me to make her granddaughter a B D Cake. She likes Princess things, so I chose a Story Book theme, getting inspiration from Rose Bud Cakes of Beverly Hills. I so wished I would have put ribbon around the cakeboard instead of a thin piped line, the board absorbed the grease from icing. Like most of my cakes this was free, so I did not feel too bad about the board.
Charlies Birthday 09
My son requested a carrot cake, so I made some of his favorite things, Sub Sandwich, He plays on adult softball team...carved a somewhat looking baseball mitt, with a chocolate softball. His fav. beverage, Bud Light is a poured chocolate bottle and painted with luster dust..I need a new bottle mold, as this bottle was mis-shaped.
Easter Bunny And Chicks
The cake was a 12" cake cut in half, (made 2 of the same cakes) The bunnies and chicks were cookies piped with icing, I seen these character cookies at a local Giant Eagle and thought they were cute. I made soft pineapple/coconut cookies and piped a tremendous amount of icing to get the look. Hopefully, when they eat these cookies they will scrape off some of the icing.
Small 6" cake with a metal Hanna Montana purse like thing on top of cake, filled with tissue paper and her gift, a watch. Top of cake is a Texas Size Cupcake. This was a last minute thing for a grand niece who was visiting.
These were made for a little league BB team my son coaches. Like most of my stuff, free. I wanted a more dense cc, so these were vanilla almond pound cake with cherry vanilla filling piped into the cc. The basketball discs were colored white chocolate and took hours to make as I only had one cavity in the mold. The cc got mixed reviews, I thought cherry would be a popular flavor with kids...and pound cake, guess not. Adults liked them, but some kids did not. Oh, can't remember what CC member had the idea for a cc carrier but I used their idea, hot glued clear plastic cups to board and made it stable to transport.
Correctional Officer Retirement
Was asked to make a cake for a retiring CO from a State Prison. fondant accents on buttercream. Cake was caramel apple
This was a square cake 2 layers with second layer torted on an angle so heart shape cake would lay at an angle. Ganache filled chocolate.
Son wanted cake for his Super Bowl party, and he is a huge Steelers Fan. Cut a 1/2 sheet cake on one side at an angle to make sleeve for other side of cake. Buttercream painted logos, numbers and stripes. Strawberry swirl and white chocolate cake.
Christmas Mice Cupcakes
My grandson needed cupcake for school Christmas party, saw this idea here on CC. Kids really enjoyed "eating" mice.
Shellie Wedding Cake
Caramel infused vanilla cake with Apple flavored icing. Black ribbon, silk roses, bride supplied topper.
Shellie Groom Cake
All was going pretty well until I put on the sugar ice and sugar bottles then the fondant ring around top of buttercream cake started sliding down, so it looks crushed on the front. Airbrush color ran, so was not happy with that either. However, the wedding party loved the cake, double chocolate, chocolate ganache filled and frosted then a layer of buttercream on top of ganache, which probably made it even more slippery with the fondant ring.
Wanted an "Ocean Theme. White chocolate molded and luster dust painted mermaid and sea shells. Dolphin was modeling chocolate that turned out crappy. Since most of my cakes are for family and friends and free, I can get by with less than good results.
onsie, cupcake booties, cookies. Colors and horse theme selected by grandmother. double layer vanilla and strawberry filling.
My friend of 50 years, (we grew up together) loves apple decor. The apples would have turned out better if I would have used fondant, I used chocopan and it was way too soft. Apples were mini cc covered with chocopan, painted with luster dust and sprinkled with food glitter. She liked her cake, despite imperfections and sloppy basketweave, not to mention how awful the color the icing turned out. She loved the chocolate luster dusted leaves.
Ohio State "O", airbrush splattered all over the place, I can't use airbrush properly. Double layer vanilla bean with peanutbutter creme filling.
My DIL asked me to make her mother a BD cake, she is a very good baker, and I was hesitant to do this, the family I was told really liked the cake and icing. Went with flowers and choc. butterfly as no color or theme was given to me.
2 tiered tilted cake covered in chocolate and white fondant. The chocolate M was much too large for this cake, my grandaughter is in marching band, and plays the sax, so I did musical theme with piano keys and choc. instruments.
Wondermold doll, fondant tail, chocolate shells, cookies `n cream icing. smacked self in forehead as I forgot to put a border around bottom, this was one of 5 cakes for family in one weekend. Pic was taken on washer at son's house, not such a lovely background.
Where do I begin----I turned down this order, but gave in to the MIL who likes the taste of my cake. It was 94 degrees outside, over 100 inside my kitchen. Everything was slippery. Couldn't center dowel, when I tried the third layer cracked. Bottom tier slid an inch on delivery. Fixed the best I could at site. Stress and sickly feeling not worth doing wedding cakes! Decompressed afterward, with a 3 hour nap, woke as if I had been on an all-nighter. I don't know how ya'll who do weddings take the stress.
Going Into The Army
A lady asked me to do a going away to the Army cake for her son. The family was not happy with his decision, but wanted to show him their support. She wanted camoflauge, and the Little Green Army Men to represent the family members standing behind him in his decision.
Little League Basketball
My first time using a sports ball pan...because it is frosted in BC it was hard to keep it rounded and smooth, choc. stripes ran all over the place.
Mom's 81St Birthday
I did an edible image of several pics of my mom thru the years. The cake was pineapple with a coconut filling.
Twins B Cakes
Twin grandsons want their own cakes this year, they chose their favorite characters. piped icing onto outline of the characters.
I get repeated orders from the same person for sugar free cakes. I use the Pillsbury Reduced Sugar cake mix, the mix has less carbs per serving than the scratch splenda cake recipe I use. I developed a reduced sugar icing recipe that these folks really like. The icing is light and fluffy (does not crust) and pipes well. I couldn't make 2 icing recipes for this cake as I ran out of Splenda so this cake is rather thin on icing on top.
