Bride is a photography major so she wanted a filmstrip of her groomals, bridals and engagement photos on the cake. It was hard to guesstimate the exact circumference of each tier after buttercream and fondant but I was pretty close. I was able to divide the number and do all but one pic in the back the exact size - the one is back was a tad bit smaller. I printed them on sugarsheets. I was able to get 3 rows per sheet.
Our city hosted the national Lincoln Douglas high school debate tournament this year. It's tradition to present the judges with Lincoln's favorite cake, a French almond type. I was commissioned to do the cake and this is my interpretation.
Bottom layer is fondant. Ship is cake with a couple of cereal treat squares. Ship is covered with modeling chocolate. Figures, sail and #5 are fondant with tylose. Figures could be better but still perfecting.
White Westie dog cake using Julie Cains tutorial. She hand rolls each fur piece with fondant. I did not. I used swiss meringue buttercream and a grass/fur tip. Much easier.

Loving the birch bark cake trend. My first time trying it. The bark is modeling chocolate and the woodland creatures are gumpaste. Now I want a bride to order a birch bark wedding cake!

Handmade characters - most out of modeling chocolate but some are fondant. Cake board hand done with raised dots made from cake tip used as cutter..took freaking forever.

Whimsy cake made for a fun raiser - base is small, 8 inches, top is about 4 inches. Flowers & curls are gum paste with stems on wires. Curls dried on skewers. Bows are fondant.
