Strawberry cake with pink fondant
This was for a birthday cake competition. It was my first time making an edible fondant topper. The big frog was cake covered it fondant. His head wasn't supported properly and his stomach started to split open, His bowtie was sitting on his stomach by the time the judging started. He was also making the cake lean. At one point he almost fell off. I stuck a skewer in him to hold him up near the end.

Yellow cake with fondant. I DO NOT make fondant cakes. EVER I did one in class and that's it. I have done Owen's cake since he turned two and this is what his mom ordered. Only for him....only for him....only for him....... Yes I know the skull looks like a ghost. I had to cut it by hand. I couldn't find a cookie cutter at the store.
I used the alien cupcake idea from Hello Cupcake to make these. I couldn't find Power Ranger cupcake picks, so I made them like this instead. The little boy was very surprised.

This cake is so good. I ended up putting some crumbs on the cake because one cake layers was a bit more "toasty" than the other two so I crumbled it up and used it to decorate the cake.
My great nephews turned one and two this month. The two year old loves football.
