I made this for my sister's wedding in Colorado. I lived in SC at the time and had to ship all of my supplies ahead of time. I sent my mother the cake receipe and she baked all the cakes for me. Only problem was the high altitude affected the cakes, but we managed! It was truely a family affair!!
This was my first attempt at working with gumpaste. I made 50 rosebuds for this cake...I finally go tthe hang of it after about 30 of them. I dried them on toothpicks and when it was time to put them on the cake at the reception, they would not come off the toothpicks!! I had to cut them off and warn the mother of the bride not to let anyone try to eat them. uuuugggghhhh!!!
I think this is a "classic" wedding cake. It's been a while, so I cannot remember what kind of filling or cake was used in this one.
This cake was made for a friend of mine in DC. She saw the idea in a magazine. All six blocks had differnet filling, all covered with a white chocolate buttercream frosting...it was delic!!
This cake was done for one of my friends promotion in DC. Everyone thought it was so neat to have all of his rank ina cake dispaly. The stencils took longer to make than the baking and decorating did.
The groom is a Redskins fan. My boyfriend is a Cowboys fan...he was none too happy to have anything to do with the "Deadskins" in our house.

I get a lot of requests for this cake. Two half sheets, one carved. I airbrush the stripes using a stencil and sprinkle the top with sugar flakes to hide any imperfections.
