This is my entry into the 2014 NC State Fair. The boots and hat are Styrofoam covered in fondant and airbrushed with pearl dust. The brim is all gum paste. Roses are gum paste dusted with petal dust. Ring and box are 50/50 veil is all gumpaste.Since i posted this picture I went to the fair to see how my cake did. I was very pleased to see that it took first in its class, however i was heartbroken when i saw the back of the brim had fallen down. I have no clue as to why it did. I assume it was not damaged before the judging was done. So i guess the heat in the glass cabinets just got to it. It stayed perfect at home so i'm not sure what happened. All I can say is it's another lesson learned

Carolina Christmas
I did this cake for the NC State Fair It was my very first competition. So I kept it simple, I was very excited when it took a first place ribbon. The cakes are 8 and 12 in, all accents are from fondant. The lantern had a flickering tea light in it. The panes are sugar glass, the pinecones are made with small tear drop cutters. The pine needles were standing out, but after a while they drooped over the side.

The cake is vanilla covered in b/c , hay bails are pound cake covered in b/c rolled in toasted coconut. The pumpkins are candy. The tractors are toys.

Blowing Bubbles
This cake was made for a friends daughter who turned one. The bottle of bubbles actually blew bubbles. The bubbles blew up and away from the cake they were also non toxic just incase. All the accents were made from fondant the clear bubbles were shatterproof balls from a string of lights. The baby was a doll I found that looks like the birthday girl. Her outfit is made of fondant to look like the one she was wearing for her party. The whole family was amazed and loved the cake so I was happy. Over all I was very pleased with the outcome of this cake.

Invitation To The Wedding
This was a Bridal Shower cake I did for a friend of a friend......The florist did not get my flower order right so I had to use white daisies around the bottom instead of hot pink. The images are edible prints... the design and wording was from the wedding invitation.....I was not happy with the out come because of the flowers...I wanted to leave the white daisies off, but my friend wanted them......The bride to be was happy so I guess thats all that matters

Patron Bottle
This is a cake I did for my husbands 44 birthday......I was not happy at all with it.....My fondant fell down over night and I could not get the color I needed so I had to leave it white....The base for my cake was a picnic table and the legs for it didn't work out, so at the last minute I had to just leave it on the cake board

Pretty In Blue
This was my first Quinceanera cake....I was very pleased with it untill I messed with it after I sat it up.....There was an air pocket I noticed on the side so I decided to let the air out and knew very well I should not mess with it.That's why you see the sink hole in the side of the right bottom cake. As I always say I live and learn with every cake. The roses are gumpaste
