Made this for my friend's daughter. She is in 3rd grade and playing in the state chess tourney on her birthday. Her mom surprised her with it and she thought is was a real chess game. Vanilla cake with almond buttercream, fondant with candy melt molded chess pieces. Thanks for looking!
I did this as a gift for my cousins wedding. Their colors were the rainbow. My first wedding cake. Fondant covered with fake flowers provided by the bride. I was really scared on this one...definately felt the preasure. It turned out okay I think and they loved it, that's all that matters.
Thanks to alanahodgson here on this site for her beautiful cake as my inspiration, though I'm fairly sure I didn't do hers justice. Fondant covered cakes. French vanilla with raspberry jam filling and chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. The chalis and hosts were gumpast. The grapes on the cake are fondant, (I couldn't get the gumpaste to the right color and still didn't accomplish the color I wanted with the fondant).
Had to do the beer bucket cake. I was really questioning my sanity after I agreed to do it but I'm fairly pleased with the results. Devils food cake with oreo filling. The wood planks are chocolate with chocolate bottles made from molds. Labels are fondant, my husband piped the writing. The ice is knox blox. Thanks to everyone who made the beer bucket and the inspiration.

For my mom's cousin. She and her DH were married in Steamboat Springs CO. Her family was supposed to make the trip, but her father became very ill quickly and could not make the trip. Their whole family from all over the US came home to be with their father. "The cousins" decided to have a reception celebration for her and her new DH and I was asked to do the cake. This is my favorite cake that I've done and also is sad because of the circumstances. Thks to all CCer's for constant inspiration!!
My cousin's 17th birthday cake. He comes from a long line of Minnesota Viking's fans. MMF covered cakes with MMF accents. Football helmet was a styrafome ball carved and covered w/ MMF and painted with luster dust. Face mask was piped choc candy melts.
Cake for my mom's grad party, her school colors were green and white and teh gold represents her Magna Cum Laude designation. Chocolate MMF with gold luster dust painted on the sides and the gold rope.
An Easter/Birthday cake for my husbands family. This is my first tier cake, my first time making and using MMF and my first time molding, shaping and cutting anything. Thank you to Biscat for the ladybug info on the Noah cake...so adorable.
