Sfsu Theatre Arts Graduation 2011
This one was a DOOZY! I did it all by myself. :) Red velvet with a milk chocolate cream cheese frosting, covered in MMF. Background hand painted, not airbrushed (as you can probably tell from the harsh gradient around the skyline, haha). All of the show "billboards" are hand painted as well. The cake toppers are white chocolate covered cake pops! I feel very proud of this guy, and also very tired.

Blue, Black, & Gold
I made this cake as practice for myself. I experienced a loooooot of frustrations, but being my first cake of this sort, I'm pretty proud of it. I had many issues in regards to piping, but hey, I learned for next time. Also my first time using an airbrush....thats a whole other story. Lets just say I'm STILL finding blue dust on things. Well, lesson learned.

A Very Little Mermaid Birthday!
My cohort and I made this today for our very first (paid) client! Hoorah! It's for a 4th birthday party, with a mermaid theme. So, we dove right in and decided to create THE little mermaid for the lucky birthday girl. The cake is covered in fondant, Ariel is made of fondant, fondant detailing....pretty much everything is MMF. We covered the board with buttercream and sprinkled with brown sugar for a sea floor effect. We are still adding details and such (Happy Birthday!), but for now, this is pretty much the cake in its final form.

Happy 50Th, Ya Wino!
I just made this for my mother's friend's 50th birthday. It's a bottle of her favorite wine made out of her favorite dessert - cake, of course. I used fondant, piping gel (for the shiny bottle effect), and gel food coloring for the bottle label. It was very fun to make; I did it all by my onesies (start to finish) in about six hours.

Brain Cake!
I made this cake for my psychology class...I told my teacher I would bring a cake for the last day of class, but I don't think she expected this! I used MMF to cover and a veining tool to make the "gray matter" pattern. I brushed on a little bit of black food coloring in the grooves and then brushed the whole cake with piping gel to finish it off! A lot of fun to (try to figure out how to) make!

Wine Bottle Birthday
I made this for my friend's mom's birthday. It is a chocolate cake w/raspberry BC, covered in fondant. I got the shine effect by coloring some piping gel and brushing it onto the the fondant. I didn't get to spend as much time on the detailing (as I was very rushed!) but I feel that I did a pretty decent job.
