Jean's 80Th Birthday Cake
A cake for dear friend of ours. She is a member of Daughters of the British Empire in USA and that was the inspiration for the theme.
It's A Girl!
The Soon-to-Be-Mom didn't want anything fancy but some polka dots. Her only requirement was to use butter cream instead fondant. I decided to dress it up with girly shoes. Mom-to-be liked them so much that she decided to keep shoes as a decoration for baby's first birthday.
Sew In Love
Bridal shower theme was "Sew in love" and this was my response: a sewing basket with the initial made of fondant buttons. Bride to be loved it.
Anna's Christening Cake
The lace on the cake was matching a lace of bonnet baby Anna was wearing. Her ivory dress had pleads and polka dots. My first time using Sugar Dress - way better and easier to work with than Sugar Veil.
Hungarian Embroidery Theme
I made this cake in 2006 for my husband's BD. I was inspired by the pattern on one of our porcelain trays. This was my second attempt of using fondant and color flow.
Katherine's Christening Cake
My stepdaughter wanted me to incorporate the lace from granddaughter?s Christening dress into the cake design. This was an opportunity to use Sugarveil icing for the first time while reproducing the lace. The cross was piped with RI and painted in gold. The color scheme was ivory, off white and gold. I was very happy with the final result and everybody liked the cake.
Suzanne's Baby Shower
Another colleague of mine is having a baby! :) The gender of the baby is not unveiled so that's why there is a lot of blue and pink on the cake. It was an 8 inch orange chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganashe. The bib and the rattle are made out of fondant mixed with some gun-tex powder.
Magda's Baby Shower
This was a cake for my stepdaughter?s baby shower. She let me to decide the design. I choose to make a replica of her childhood coin box. The coin box was considered lost, but I found it, clean and gave it to her together with the cake. Needles to say, she was trilled and more than happy. We don?t know the gender of the baby, so the main colors are blue and pink. The sides of the cake are panels made of fondant ? gum paste ? gum tex powder mixture. They were pretty solid, but still soft enough to be cut. Figurines and booties are made out of fondant ? gum tex mixture.
Janet's Yarn Basket
For a friend of mine who is a master of knitting. It is a yellow cake with mocha filling. Yarn balls are made of a trail-mix bar as a core, a layer of crispy rice around it and finished with a layer of chocolate. Everything else fondant and fondant mixed with gum-tex powder.
Baby Shower For Baby Cooper
We prepared a baby shower for our colleague at work. I volunteered to make a cake. It was a big hit. The most important is that the mother-to-be liked it very, very much. It was a yellow cake with raspberry Italian meringue butter cream, covered with fondant and the details made out of fondant. This was a perfect opportunity to make a little train using the tutorial provided by CC member Louise (thank you so much for that) look it up at her website.
Special Xbox 360
The cake was too small to carve it in the shape of the real Xbox 360, so I used the logo and the pattern from the box, with the twist. It was Maxx 16th BD, so the special version of this Xbox 360 came out as MaxXbox 16.0. Birthday Boy was very pleased with the solution.
Purple Ribbon Roses
Another friend's BD. Inspiration found from Betty's Sugar Dreams (she is CC memeber, but I can't remember her name - sorry).
Mexican Theme Bd Cake
Our colleague and friend Spanish language teacher had an over the hill birthday. This was my birthday gift for him. It is a German chocolate cake, covered with fondant and accents are fondant and gum paste. Every body on the party was thrilled by the design.
Juicy Couture Bd
This was an interesting project. The BD girls parents were preparing a surprise party for her. Because she is a big fan of Juicy Couture stuff, they bought her a Juicy Couture Ceramic piggy bank in the shape of cake. My task was to incorporate the piggy bank into a real cake so the guests can give a small token in money instead presents. The money would go for her collage expenses. This is what I came up with. BD girl was more than trilled. She loved the cake very, very much.
Gift Box With Purple Bow
This was my gift as a "secret Santa" to my co-worker. Those are her favorite colors and she loved it very much.
Chocolate cake covered with fondant. The bow made out of the mixture of fondant and gum paste.
It was chocolate cake with chocolate filling and covered with chocoalate fondant. I rubbed some crisco into fondant to make it shine. Figures were made from mixture 50/50 fondant and gum paste.
Ilona's First Communion
This is one of my favorite cakes ever. Iâve started without any idea about the design and it came out very nice. The colors (white pearl and soft pink) were perfect and the whole cake looked like made out of mother of pearl. It was chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream, covered with fondant. Sparkling details are piping gel mixed with some disco dust.
Finally I had a chance to make my version of Elisa Strauss cake. It was a huge success at the party last night.
White Blue And Gold Wedding Cake
The wedding cake I made for my stepdaughter. The groom is a military man, so she wanted to incorporate blue and yellow in honor of that.
Hawaii Style Bd Cake
The BD party was all in Hawaii style, so I decided to make the cake the same way. Everybody loved it. Fondant painted with luster dusts and the surfing board is made from gum paste.
