Made for my son's 7th birthday this past weekend. The small one on the right is the picture I was attempting to copy. Wings were David's Yellow Cake, cockpit was Almond Sour Cream Pound Cake. All covered in Buttercream Dream and Satin Ice with gumpaste R2D2 and guns.
Made for my husband's graduation from PA school last May. Fun to do!
Army PA Graduation cake for one of my husband's classmates. This is a two-layer 11x15 cake covered in fondant. The lid and logo are 50/50 fondant and gumpaste and the otoscope is gumpaste.
Sculpted from four layers of cake (Sylvia's Red Velvet in cc recipes). Legs and tongue are gumpaste. Covered in Satin Ice, tail is fondant. Really fun to make, very time consuming! My son love, love, LOVED it! Based on CP design in Cakes to Dream On.
It was a zoo birthday for our oldest (5) this year. He saw one like this on here and said "That's what I want!!!" We had so much fun making it. Animals and leaves are fondant. Trees are pretzels. Bottom cake is chocolate, top is yellow, CBC icing. The boys still remember eating the snakes!
I did these last month for my brother's Med. School Graduation. One chocolate with CBC and one white with white BD. Cake design/decorations are fondant except for the name tags. Other tools are gum paste. These were fun to do but very unnerving! First time doing a cake for someone else's event. They were a hit! Thanks for all the ideas on here!!
Ok, so this is my interpretation of a holiday snack bowl. (still need a lot of practice) Marble cake with fondant decorations and real popcorn.
Practice Cake - Base is two 9" Betty Crocker "Starlight" Yellow cakes with Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge filling, top is two 6" Chocolate Mayonnaise cakes with the same filling. Iced in Extra Special BC Icing. (Icing/Filling from CC recipes - Thank you mehganb and nesmar!!!)
Yellow cake, buttercream icing. BC and fondant finish line and toy cars. Simple but the two year old loved it!
My son discovered superheros and just had to have spiderman. Yellow cake, all buttercream. Man, that's a lotta stars!
My youngest son's first birthday. All buttercream. We are a military family so his "1" is parachuting in.
For a double bday for my nephews (1 and 3). Shamu is a carved almond sour cream pound cake covered in fondant. Base cake is a white scratch cake with BC icing. Starfish, seaweed and anemones and lettering are royal icing. Yellow Starfish cake in front is for the 1yr old. oops
This was my first attempt at a more creative cake. Our son was turning 3 and in love with trains. It is a gluten-free cake with buttercream icing (which I made too thin). The trees, rocks and grass are royal icing. Lake is piping gel. Toy trains on top.
