This should have ended up in the disaster category. When I left home it was 4 tiers and looked great. By the time I got to the reception, it had fallen over and my dowels ripped through the bottom tier. I tried to salvage the bottom and couldnt. This is what the couple ended up with. Fortuantely there was extra cake to begin with.

Casino Theme Cake
This cake was for a couple who wanted a casino theme cake. I used real cards and double sided tape. Next time I'll wait until deliver to add the cards. Once I notice the grease on the cards I lifted them so they didnt get worse and I pushed them down far enough no one saw it, but I forgot to take the picture after that. Oh well. Poker chips are from a set the bride found at the dollar store.

Mason's Grooms Cake
This was for a groom that is a mason. This started as a 14" square and I carved and somehow managed to make this compass and square. The points of the compass on the bottom are held on with bamboo skewers as is the cupcake at the top. It had a bavarian cream filling and between that filling, the imperfect frosting on the sides, and the drive, the frosting fell off of the sides. I had to remove the border, push the sides back up and repipe the border there. Thank goodness there was a catering kitchen.

Class 3
This wasnt my first time making a present cake but you couldnt tell it from the picture. This would have been much better if I were home with all of my supplies but I tried cutting the fondant with my spatchula, shared colors with a friend and then used nasty brown paper towels to try and make my bow stand up. They got stuck coming out and tha's what I ended up with. I'm not happy with it, but oh well.

Wedding Cake
This cake was thrown together with less than 12 hours notice. I threw on some silk flowers and made MMF and the cakes, got them all done and delivered. There are many flaws and had this been for a wedding not an anniversary, or had it been paid for, I would have worked harder. But I think for my first wedding cake and with such short notice it turned out wonderful. Those silk flowers really are the best part though.

Coy Pond Cake
I got the inspiration for this cake from someone on CC. I'm really sorry, but it was so long ago when I did this cake (last October) I cannot remember who. But thanks anyway. I used assorted nuts, fruits and carmels for the rocks. The fish are rolled buttercream. The lady I made the cake for has a coy pond and calls the fish her children so I thought it would be fun. I used blue jello mixed with corn syrup to make the water on top. Next time I know to Pipe a dam to keep my pond from running over the edge.
