This is an applesauce spice cake with cinnamon buttercream icing. This was my first basketweave cake. The leaves are fondant painted with watered down gel food coloring and sprinkled with gold sugar dust. The only thing I may change next time is to try a cream cheese icing with the spice cake.
I got this idea from Michael's web site. I made a stencil for the legs and cut them out in fondant, but Michael's suggests using a letter "Z" cookie cutter. The rest is buttercream.
