Curious George Jungle Cake
I made this cake for my son's 8th birthday. I made it very similar to the one on this site from ChristyB. I LOVED her cake. Many thanks to her for the inspiration to attempt to create a cake close to her's. It is a two layer, 8 inch cake--all in buttercream with fondant accents. George is the only thing that you can't eat, as he is just a pre-bought figure.

Puppy On A Pillow Birthday Cake
I made this cake for my daughter's 11th birthday this weekend. The pillow was made following the tutorial for how to make a pillow cake on this site. However, I started with a two layer, 10" square cake. I didn't freeze the cake though, and it still carved just fine. Pillow was covered with rolled buttercream, which is my first time trying it. The puppy was made from cupcakes, and then all was stuck together using buttercream. Thanks to infields, as I worked from her Maltese cake for inspiration.

Birthday Cake
This is straight from Wilton's 2007 Yearbook. I made this to share with my neighbor when I found out we both shared the same birthdate--today! This is the biggest cake I have ever made! It was the first time I ever used Satin Ice fondant, and everyone loved the taste better than my previous MMF cakes. Hmmm. . . The Satin Ice worked beautifully, but I am still needing much more practice at covering the cakes. I see lots of issues. LOL

Cardinals Baseball Cap Cake
This was my second attempt working with fondant. I used MMF. The cake was for my father's 69th birthday. I didn't have time for the bill of the cap to dry using fondant alone, so I used a piece of cardboard covered with fondant for a stonger bill. Next time, I may try to use gumpaste for making the bill of the cap. It is a 6 inch cake that is topped with a half of a ball pan cake. This cake made about 10 servings. If I need more servings in the future, I will put it on a home plate shaped cake.
