Snook Fish Cake
The groom is an avid snook fisherman, a fish that is found off the gulf coast of Texas. The bride requested this cake for him as a surprise. She wanted red velvet cake, so I used cream cheese buttercream icing then covered it in fondant. Details are hand painted on using a little bit paste food coloring mixed with a little bit of vodka (you can't use water because it will melt the fondant. By using alcohol, the liquid evaporates faster and the color stays behind.)

Payton's 4Th Birthday Cake
My son requested a Shark Tales cake. I didn't really want to make a shark cake, so I just made an under the sea cake and stuck Oscar & Lenny in the corner. All the creatures are fondant except Lenny the shark who is rice crispie treat covered in fondant. Crushed graham crackers for the sand.

Garden Cake
I made this cake for my daughter's second birthday. It's my 1st topsy turvy cake. White cake on the bottom, chocolate cake on the top, iced in buttercream with fondant accents. This one was fairly easy to decorate, but a structural engineering nightmare! I love the way it turned out though and my little girl was thrilled with it!

Farm Cake
Farm cake I made for my son's 1st birthday. I still need to put grass around the base of the barn, but with the barn attached the cake is too tall to fit in my fridge so I'll have to put it on and add the grass at the party site. Cake is 2 layers of DH Devil's Food w/ Buttercream Dream icing. Animals are fondant. Road is crushed 'nilla wafers. Barn is styrofoam iced in royal. Pigs are sitting in melted chocolate. Hay bale that the chicken is on is rice krispy treat. Fence is made of pretzel pieces.

Barn Cookie
My first time making iced sugar cookies! I made them as party favors for my son's 1st birthday party next weekend. I used the No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe (which really was no-fail!) and Antonia74's royal icing recipe. The picture on the right is after it was bagged and tied with a strip of cow-print fabric and a strip of bandana-print fabric.

Bridal Shower Cake
I know this doesn't look like a cake for a bridal shower, but the bride specifically requested a yellow cake with chocolate icing. This is the first cake I ever really "decorated" so I used icing out of the can. The flowers are fondant and cut with varius sized cookie cutters. It matched her shower invitations which were light pink with hot pink, orange, and yellow daisies on them.

Fondant Farm Animals
These are the fondant animals that I made for my son's 1st birthday cake which I'll be making next week. This is my first time working with fondant and I found it pretty easy - like clay only stickier! The cow is going to be sitting in a bunch of grass so that's why he doesn't have legs. The pigs are going to be in a bit of chocolate icing (to look like mud) so that's why one doesn't have legs. I'll add the green tops to the carrots with green icing when I put them on the cake.
