Everyone has a disaster cake, here is mine. I ran out of high ratio shortening and tried to substitute crisco into Sugarshacks icing recipe. Let me just say, it can't be done. I ended up with some nasty icing. So, I had to find a recipe using crisco. I used Indydebi's recipe. I think maybe if I'd added a touch more milk. It wasn't as smooth as I'm used to but I guess if you didn't know cakes you'd think it looked alright.

The woman how ordered this wanted a mermaid cake, but not Little Mermaid. All accents are MMF except the doll. The tail and shell are MMF.
This was a strange order. They wanted a cake that looked like a rock. The birthday girl was a geologist. I was going to add two more smaller rocks on tom made out of RCT covered with MMF, but my seven year old had to make a trip to the Emergency Room. But, I think it still turned out ok.

Everything that could go wrong went wrong with this cake. I made it for my DH graduation. Could it be that I had too much on my plate? Hmmmm? DH graduating, Graduation party and three kids. Nope that can't be it... Must have just been a crappy cake day! :O) My MMF would not set up, so I had to send DH to Walmart a 1am for chocolate to make a quick CT.
I wasn't crazy about how the webbing turned out. If I have to do another one, I'll do it differently. I have never seen Spider man, so I guess this is what he looks like in my mind. I carved him out to a 12 x 15 sheet cake, covered him with MMF and airbrushed the colors.
Quick thrown together Pokemon cake I had to make a MMF plaque to go under two of the toys because they were top heavy and I couldn't get them to stand up. But, the birthday boy wanted them on his cake, so I had to improvise.
