New Year's Eve 2008
My first cake disaster :( This is a very poor version of the planned design: 40C day in an unairconditioned kitchen the butttercream was turning in to a puddle. Then it was dropped once we got to the party. I just laughed, not much else to do at that point. We managed to salvage and eat it and it did taste fantastic. Confetti Cakes chocolate cake soaked in Kahlua syrup and layered with whipped white chocolate cream. Decorated with vanilla buttercream.

Christmas Swirls And Holly
This was my attempt at a lovely design by arrostx. I was looking for something simple to do a "real" buttercream design - my piping skills are virtually non-existent :( It was loads of fun playing with the icing though. The cake is four layers of chocolate genoise, soaked in simple syrup and filled with a chocolate custard buttercream. Decorated with American vanilla buttercream.

Grace's Christening
I made this for my daughter's Christening. Two tiers of chocolate mud cake filled with chocolate ganache. Covered in fondant. Bootie soles are from gumpaste with tuille tops decorated with royal icing in a cornelli pattern. The idea for these is from a book by the International School of Sugarcraft.
