Cat Enjoying Yarn
This idea was from Debbie Brown's Easy Party Cakes book. I used the sportsball cake pan as the base. For the yarn texture I was having a hard time making the strands uniform so I put the fondant through the Kitchen Aid meat grinder (without the blade) and presto --- Perfect strands of 'yarn'. The cat is also made of fondant.

50Th Wedding Anniversary With Flowers
This cake is covered in buttercream and was made for my Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary. All gold medallions are made of marzipan and shaped using First Impressions molds. The medallions were sprayed with edible gold spray paint. The flowers are secured in the cake using Wilton Cake Spikes.

Exploding Volcano Cake!
My nephew wanted a volcano cake. I made it extra special by having it actually explode. The cake is the wondermold covered in fondant. Before applying the fondant place a large test tube in the center of the cake. Put the fondant over the cake and then cut a small slit around the top of the test tube. When it comes time to light the cake, light the candles and then lift the top of the fondant, add diet coke to the test tube and then drop in 4 mint mentos. Your birthday kid will love it! Be sure to test the 'explosion' ahead of time so that you know how many towels to put under the cake. Or - We had the explosion outside to keep the mess out of the house.

Elmo is covered in buttercream frosting with pingpong balls for eyes and nose. His head, arms and legs are RKT, body is the wondermold on top of either a 9" or 10" round. (Both work) Unfortunately Elmo was very big and scared the 2 yr old birthday girl. All of the other kids loved him!

Cement Truck
My nephew wanted a 'Mercedes Cement Truck' cake. Who knew that Mercedes made cement trucks? This cake was a near disaster due to the weight of the cake. The cab and base of the truck are all cake. The cement drum of the truck is RKT and I used two football molds (cut off the ends) to create the drum shape. Frosting is all buttercream. If you make this cake, make sure you have a well designed support system for the drum and don't drive too far with it!.
