This is my 3rd-3D-Fondant type of cake. Blame Duff of Ace of Cakes for this on going thrill of 3d cake design. I made this for a friend one day before the Super Bowl. This was more of a test cake rather than a show piece but I also had fun with it. Thanks Boleen for the link to the edible print out plaques. I actually applied the print directly to the satin ice blue fondant. Let's see how it looks tomorrow. Thanks all!
My first attempt was with homemade fondant made with marshmellows. I found the recipe here at CC. We love Maui and just spent 9 days for our summer vacation. Our son than 11months old discovered sand...with his mouth. :o So that is the reason for the sand shoval made with gumpaste. And for the shirt well I guess it is obvious...we love Hawaii! :) I have been inspired with the show Ace of Cakes and I do have a background in creative endeavors. Oh and btw we really enjoyed working with the SATIN ICE fondant.
1st time Fondant user ever!. Used MMF, store bought fondant(Clarice's), Edible red aerosol mist and cake/buttercream recipes from this site. The Pilot Marker is 100% fondant too. This was fun.
