These are my only my 2nd attempt at making roses. I used fondant instead of gumpaste, just out of laziness, this cake was for family and practice anyway.
I made this cake for a friend's daughter's 1st birthday. It was the first time I've made figures from gumpaste and fondant. The cake was covered in fondant with gumpaste for the tree and the fairies. I used fondant for the grass and flowers.
This was a 2 tiered topsy turvy cake. Covered in fondant, duckies made from gumpaste. It was for a friends baby shower and was a huge hit. I had a few problems with the humidity the night before but the problem was solved by dusting powdered sugar over the cake and dusting the excess off, you'd never know the difference.
I'm so happy with the way this cake turned out! It was for a friend's daughter's 7th birthday. It's covered in Satin Ice fondant. The purse strap and detail on the front are painted with luster dust, as are the accessories. The accessories are made of gumpaste.
This is my 1st attempt at a whimsical cake. I'm pretty happy with the results, although there were a few places were I couldn't get rid of the folds in the fondant. It wasn't actually for a wedding, my mom wanted a cake to welcome her staff back to school, I used the opportunity for practice.
I used a butter knife to gently score the fondant after putting it onto the cake, it gave the fondant a slightly rough texture in spots like old wood.
