Made this cake for my niece's 12th birthday, she absolutely adores dogs. Doggy bed is chocolate cake covered in fondant, Dog was cut out of a triagle pan and was carved to give it the round effect. His paw are made from a piece of cake and built up the thighs with buttercream. Head is made out of foam. ( I didn't want the weight of cake on it ) , ears were cut out of an orchid leaf cutter, eyes, nose, bows and collar are fondant. Hair on puppy is all royal icing. Will post side view.

Entered a cake contest in South Florida to see where I stood, I am making my niece's wedding cake in Feb. so I did this one to practice and to be critiqued by professionals. I came in first place in wedding category. The only thing I did wrong was not having enough flowers as a cake topper. Not bad for my real first wedding cake, apart from the ones from Wilton classes.
