Chocolate Castle Birthday Cake
This cake is out of the Wilton Year Book and a few others have done it on Cake Central. I measured the height of the cake before putting the dowels on the back of the chocolate plaque but I guess the cake settled a little overnight and my dowels were a little too long. It didn't matter though my granddaughter loved the cake and was so anxious to blow out the candles and cut the cake.

Course Iii Final Tiered Wedding Style Cake
Buttercream with peach petunias. I tried duplicating a cake out of the 2006 Wilton Yearbook. I guess I'm one who follows directions too closely. The instructions said 3/4", 1-1/4", etc. up to 2-1/4". Dummy me, I should have realized they were too long and centered them down the side of my cake. Oh well, live and learn. I also should have made the ball tip and iced the strings upwards. Overall I am pleased with the way it turned out. I'm really sad the classes are over. I had a great instructor!

Baby Shower Cake
I made this for a friends baby shower. I found the directions at Michaels.com entitled "Naturally Curly". I deviated from the directions some. My cake is two layers with buttercreat instead of fondant. I did use fondant for the eyes, nose, ears and feet. I also used a 10" pan for the head instead of the 9" the directions called for. I think it turned out pretty cute.
