Teenage Mutant Turtles Birthday Cake
Made for a friend's little boy, who loves TMNT. I tried to make the heads following an tutorial, but gave up and used the cutters I had purchased for the cupcakes. Once I got the hang of cutting at all the pieces it was easy to put together, time consuming, but easy! The cake is covered in butter cream with fondant decorations. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to cut out the little windows so I used some sparkle gel, but it ran a bit when I applied it. Hand cut the name, number and manhole cover. The place I purchased the cutter from on ebay, makes all kinds of specialty cutters and are a great addition to my cake supplies!

Scarlett's Dress
Birthday Cake for a Friend's 80th Birthday, her favorite movies is "Gone with the Wind" and I modeled the cake after Scarlett's dress early in the movie. The top tier sits on top one of the tailored tiers from the Tailored Tier Wilton set. It is covered in red velvet type fabric with a large red bow on the back. The entire cake is covered in Wilton fondant, and I used long lace cutter to make an impression on the top tier, then "strips" of lace on the bottom tiers. Took some time to get each layer of lace done, but well worth it. I used silk magnolias as the topper since they were a prominent flavor in the film.

Rose Bead Board Wedding Cake
A last minute wedding cake! Covered in Wilton fondant (which actually tasted good!). Used a rose bead maker to make border. If I had had more time I would have dressed it up a bit more with roses or flowers. Also learned that when the box for the cake stand says for a 10 in cake, you should not try to put a 12 in cake on it, but I got it to work with some damage that I had to fix after I got the cake on the stand!

Hawaiian Themed Wedding Cake
WASC with different fillings, lemon cream, raspberry cream and chocolate, decorated with buttercream. The couple was married in Hawaii and had a reception back at home. The couple specifically requested turtles on the cake. I used a cookie cutter as a template to outline the turtles.

Butterflies And Eeyore
Made this for a friend's surprise birthday. Had to be green, and have Eeyore on it. The butterflies are made using the patchwork cutter set and gum paste, then painted and dusted with silver luster dust. The frosting is buttercream. I used the cutters to imprint the butterflies on to the sides after I stacked them all together. Eeyore is not edible and was given to me to be used at the topper. My friend was very surprised and loved her cake!

Treasure Cake
Inspired by several cakes here at CC, especially __Martha__. The top of the box is a lemon cake, carved, then covered in Michele Foster's Fondant. The bottom of the box is 4 layers of chocolate cake, also covered in fondant. I used a wood grain impression mat on the chocolate fondant. For the "gold" strips, I used a wilton impression/cutter set to make the impressions and then painted it several times to give it a more gold finish with wilton gold dust. Everything is edible including the chocolate coins. We used brown sugar as sand. This seemed to take forever, but I was very pleased with how it turned out, and my daughter and her friends loved it.

Purple With Pink Roses
I hadn't intended for this particular cake to be auctioned off so I just did a casual icing job with buttercream. I decided that since I had some extra pink fondant I would make up some roses using the Duff method, and put them on the cake to give a little flair. When I took it with me, they actually decided to auction it off too, and everyone thought it was lovely. 10x4 inch white chocolate raspberry with raspberry mousse filling.

Silvermist Birthday Cake
My daughter's favorite pixie on her birthday cake. All the decorations are fondant except for Silvermist. The top oval tier is covered in marble blue fondant to represent the talent of Silvermist as a water fairy. The bottom tier is marble green to represent the meadows of Pixie Hollow. All the flowers were handmade. Thank you to everyone who gave me some help on who to make the water lilies.

Butterfly Birthday Cake
12in Square and Circle WASC cake, made for my friend's daughter's first birthday. The original plan was to stack these, but as I was decorating decided to change it to this. Cake are both covered and decorated in MMF. The dots are buttercream. The butterflies are made from Satin Ice and painted with icing colors and then dusted with pearl dust. The design is based on the partyware she chose for the party.

Ashley's Birthday Cake
Blog readers choose the design for the bottom tier. I am not all that thrilled with the way the other two layers turned out, I was getting tired and started to kind of threw things together at the last minute! Iced in buttercream with MMF. 12", 10" and 6" . It was a surprise birthday cake for a friend's 18th birthday. She loves purple and was thrilled to see it all in purple!

Blue Brown Carriage Cake
This cake was a last minute request, and I had nothing but problems with it. The blue fondant kept tearing and it took me several times to get it in place. The design was a bit different in my planning. The bow was too soft and won't set up, so it ended up flat. The cake colors were actually a lot lighter that this photo shows, much more pastel blue and softer color of brown. Painted the entire cake in pearl dust. The design was inspired by a couple of cakes here on CC!
