I did this cake for my son's Boy Scout troop Christmas party. The figures are piped out of BC.
This cake was my first paying customer cake. It was for a Harvest Festival at a church. I made the pumpkins and leaves out of fondant with a little gum tek added. I airbrushed the color on the leaves and then piped the vines. I charged $32 for the cake but gave a 20% first time buyer discount, so I got $26 dollars for it. Which probably worked out to about $3 and hour. Heehee
This cake is from the Wilton Celebrate with Fondant book. It was my first time to make fondant sculptures. I had a lot of trouble with stickiness, probably due to it being late August and hot as flugums. I would do some things differently the next time around, but overall, I was happy. It got my a blue ribbon at the county fair.
This cake design is from the Wilton Fondant and Gumpaste course. It was not one of the grand finale cake designs, but I liked it better than the other designs, so my instructor let me do it. There are forty!!! daisies on this cake. Needless to say, I got pretty good at daisies by the time I was done.
