Inspired by other Twilight-themed cakes here on CC, this cake was for a really cool quinceañera. Info: Bottom layer was a Devil's Food (super chocolate) cake and the top layer was my Very Vanilla Pudding Cake. High-humidity buttercream covered with fondant (it's just too hot & humid in South Florida during the summer!). Everything is edible. I made the chess pieces and ribbon from Satin Ice fondant and used gum paste for the flower petals and apple. The apple was tinted red before hand molding it and was painted with coloring & vodka afterward to give it a different texture. Royal icing was used for piping work and to put everything together. Cake covered in MMF and decorations are MMF and buttercream frosting. Cake was for double baby shower at work. My co-workers are due 3 weeks apart and are both having boys. Thanks to the other CC members in this forum for their inspirations with the clothesline cakes, "Oh Boy" and "heaven above" sayings. It was a hit!
