White cake with buttercream icing. I carved the numbers out of 8" rounds. This is the first cake I have made in about 12 years so I have a lot of practicing to do. My mom liked it though, and it was very tasty.
My first time trying chocolate ganache. I used chocolate buttercream to decorate. I put the upper border on before the ganache had set up fully and some of it slid right down the side of the cake making a bit of a mess. I added some swirls on the side to minimize it. I think my buttercream for the roses was a little too stiff, still learning!!
