Jeep Wrangler "mudder" For 40Th Birthday
This Jeep Wrangler (rear view) was made for a man who is a "mudder"...his wife wanted the whole cake to look like it was muddy and out in the country...half of the cake is chocolate on chocolate...a lot of chocolate! The other half was WASC with chocolate filling. It was all eaten that night...the car was made of cereal treats and covered in my homemade marshmallow fondant.
University Of Ky Basketball Cake
This WASC round basketball cake had strawberry buttercream filling with buttercream icing. I used rice paper for the logo. The basket below it was butter pecan with pecan buttercream filling. This was made for a woman who "bleeds blue" (many in Kentucky claim that they do) on her 60th birthday. She is such an UK fan!
Snowflakes For Christmas
White 2 tiered Christmas cake made for a lady who wanted butter cream icing on 12 inch white almond sour cream cake with strawberry buttercream filling for lower tier and butter pecan cake with toasted pecans and white buttercream filling for top 9 inch tier. Fondant snowflakes with silver dragees and winter ice blue ribbons decorate the sides...sugared round snowball decorations and three real spider mums on top (placed on a buttercream covered plastic disk to keep it food-safe).
American Saddlebred Horse Cake
This is the logo for the American Saddlebred Horse Association. The young girl was turning 9, but had recently earned the World Championship at the old age of 8. She was to perform for the first time with her new horse at a show in Lexington, KY, and her loving mother made sure that Payton had a birthday cake, too. They drove it in their truck up to the horse track in Lexington. It is a chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream sitting in a modified box to handle the vibrations of the huge diesel truck in which they were riding to the show.
Quilt On A Bed Cake
This white almond sour cream Quilt Cake was made for a wonderful lady who turned 60...note the Bible on the stand, as well as the quilt...she quilts and teaches the Word to all. It was a surprise party for her, given by her Monday night Bible study group. The cake is white, as ordered, with strawberry butter cream... the quilt, headboard, night stand, Bible, slippers, and rug are fondant, as are the flowers on the bottom cake.
Baby Sleeping Under The Oon And Stars
Sage Green Butter Cream Icing covers this baby shower cake. The sleeping baby is fondant/gum paste, as are the moon, stars, pillow, and blanket. The filling on the top tier was blackberry butter cream, while the bottom was strawberry butter cream...the cake was white almond sour cream.
Hello Kitty Carousel
This is a "Hello Kitty Carousel" cake I made for a little girl's sixth birthday...her party theme was Carnival Time... the bottom 3 layers are white almond sour cream cake with strawberry butter cream filling (see my recipe for that on CC), while the middle section and the top of the carousel is made from chocolate and chocolate butter cream filling. The Hello Kitty's are the birthday girl's toys, but the decorations are royal icing and fondant/gum paste (with a few dragee's added in for sparkle). All butter cream exterior. The carousel cake turns on a fondant-covered lazy Susan contraption I put together.
The Bachelorette Bustier Cake
This cake was ordered by a Sunday School teacher at my church who was hosting a bridal shower with the ladies from our church and they wanted a bustier cake. It had to be in "good taste", due to their order, and I think the pink and white color combination made it come out looking great! They absolutely loved it (it was more "Victoria Secret" instead of "Fredericks of Hollywood"), and thought it tasted even better than it looked! It was white almond cake with Strawberry Butter Cream Filling and iced in butter cream.
A Beautiful Chocolate/chocolate With Heath Bar Cake
Handmade fondant yellow roses top this two layer chocolate cake with chocolate filling/Heath Bar Bits in the middle. This was the hit of the party, even though it was the "2nd" cake on the side for those who did not want white cake... everyone ate this one first!
This 3 tiered cake was for my granddaughter's first birthday... it traveled fairly well to its destination with just a few minor flaws...the monkeys are fondant, as is the banner with her name on it., and the decorations. It was covered in butter cream , but the second layer (blue) was a different butter cream (I call it Crisco cream) because my daughter likes the Crisco icing better than the butter cream... a compromise to keep everyone happy. It did not travel as well as the butter creamed tiers did... Oh, well! Live and Learn!
Sweet Baby Shower Cake With Ballet Slippers
This three tiered baby shower cake has fondant ballet slippers on top. The mommy-to-be absolutely loved the cake, and kept the slippers for her little one. It is white cake with almond flavoring (the mommy's favorite) covered in butter cream and fondant dots.
One Year Anniversary Cake
This cake was for a couple's first year anniversary... It was the replica of the one I made for them for their wedding. White Almond Cake with Butter Cream Icing. A miniature cake that was only 10 inches tall.
Filigree And Handmade Roses For 50Th Wedding Anniversary
This 3 tiered cake was made with Filigree and handmade fondant roses for a client on top of butter cream. It had strawberry butter cream between the layers of white almond sour cream cake...scrumptious! Did not last long!
White And Dark Chocolate Chess Board Cake
This cake was made out of white and dark chocolate for my son-in-law's birthday. He is a chess player and thoroughly loved the chocolate cake under the squares. The chess pieces were molded out of chocolate and took so much time to make, but it was a labor of love. The base is chocolate butter cream.
Yoda Star Wars Character Cake
This Yoda Star Wars character cake was made of rice krispy cereal and was sitting in a green swamp (which was a butter pecan cake covered in butter cream) The fingernails are sliced almonds and the clothing is MMF. A fun birthday for my 30-something son who will always love the wise Yoda.
Flip Flop Birthday Cake On Brown Sugar Sand
These two flip flop cakes were white cake with strawberry butter cream (my recipe is on the CC Recipe site for the Strawberry Butter Cream) for my special daughter-in-law. The neon pink, yellow, orange, and white stripes are made of MMF, as is the hand cut daisy I placed on each shoe. I used brown sugar for sand, as I did not have any pecan sandies (cookies) on hand. It was a great cake to give with a trip to the spa for a pedicure as her gift. Fun to make!
Sweet 16 Hollywood Star Red Carpet Cake
This Sweet 16 Birthday Cake was made of half white (the base of the cake) and half chocolate (the stairs) cake with butter cream icing. The red carpet is strawberry fruit roll-up. The black butter cream covered film canister was the cardboard holder of the black ribbon used as the film "backing" . I placed all of her pictures since she was in kindergarten in the film holder I found at a craft store. Hand prints were made by hand buttons I had in the white icing at the base of the stairs.
Pink Chocolate Buttercream Monkey Girl For Baby Shower
This cake was made for my daughter-in-law's baby shower. She collects monkeys and wanted a monkey cake for her new baby. The monkey is made of Rice K_ cereal. Originally it was covered in MMF fondant, but it would not hold (rainy weather, etc.), so I made the best of a bad situation and "butter creamed" the monkey. The girl monkey sat upon a chocolate raspberry cake with chocolate butter cream filing. She was surrounded by a pink boa and tulle. What a fun cake to make!
Baby "gift" Popping Out Of A White Buttercream With Fondant Blue And White Daisies
This baby shower cake was a 12 inch double layered white cake with strawberry butter cream filling (I used my recipe for Strawberry Butter Cream posted on the CC Recipe Section). The gift box is fondant with a baby "gift" trying to pop out of it. The daisies are MMF fondant and I made the font for the name out of fondant. (Formed on wax paper and cut out as a pattern for the fondant).
Brown And Pink Polka Dot Cake
This cake was made for a new baby girl whose mother is decorating the nursery in brown and pink polka dots. It is chocolate butter cream with pink MMF fondant circles. The cake under the butter cream is chocolate with the layers separated with raspberry butter cream (I used my strawberry butter cream recipe that is listed on the CC Recipes and substituted the raspberry seedless jam) with a layer of raspberry jam on each side. Bubble tea straws were used to stack the layers.
This is the whole picture of the cookie bouquet made of fish. Gummy worms, circles, and other gummy pieces were speared and placed in the bouquet. This is the second bouquet I have ever done.
Golf Ball In The Rough
Cake was made for one of my senior girls in my Sunday School class turning 18 last Sunday. She is on the golf team at one of our local high schools and loves anything to do with golf! The ball part is on a small hexagonal shaped cake. I made the grass like a rough would be so she would "recognize" it! The filling was my strawberry butter cream recipe which is on the recipe part of CC. Dimples were made with a Sharpie laundry pen. Placed on plate for convenience of carrying home leftovers after church
Baby In Tub With Towel, Soap, And Wash Cloth
This cake was made for a young woman and after I got the picture back, I realized that I had hit the front of the cake with my apron when I was putting the towel, wash cloth, and soap on it. They, plus the baby head, are made of fondant with Fixodent, but the rubber duckies are the real rubber duckies. Later, just before the party, I put white cookie frosting on the baby's eyes and it brightened them up!
Batman Cupcake Cake
This Batman cake is made entirely of cupcakes to aid the mother in serving,as she was at a location where it was not handy to cut cake, especially around 4 year olds! I used the Magnolia Bakery recipe for vanilla cupcakes; squirted white chocolate mousse into each cupcake that was vanilla. Part of the cupcakes consisted of chocolate cake, also a Magnolia Bakery recipe, which I filled with chocolate chips prior to baking. The best cake(s) ever! "Big kids" and the little ones fought over seconds!
