I had been teaching a class on basic cake decorating to some ladies from my church, not that I feel qualified to teach any anything, when I was asked to make a cake for a baby shower. The timing was just right so I was able to bring it to our last class and incorporate all the things I had taught them in the class. It is frosted in buttercream with royal icing flowers and the booties are two large marshmallows stuck together with toothpicks and covered in royal icing.

My sister-in-law gave me three pictures of wedding cakes she liked and I combined parts if each and this is what I came up with. It is all fake except one of the small rounds on the bottom. She just wanted enough cake to cut for pictures. My other sister in law helped me put the flowers on and I think I should have looked how things were going before we finished. There were a lot of roses together in the center and the sides were different flowers so they didn't blend very well.

Baby's First Birthday
This was a cake a made for my daughters first birthday I got the design from someone here on CC. I really loved the Strawberry shortcake color and wanted a simply quick design because I was doing it all in one day with the help of a one year old. I did it to practice for a wedding cake I had to do two weeks later. I had never stacked or filled anything before so it was good practice. The top was used for her smash cake. Though she was more interested in the candle. :)

Flower Tower
I haven't done anything with decorating for a year and have only taken the first two Wilton classes. So this was my first actual cake I have ever done. I got the design from the Wilton Tiered Cakes book. It was definately a learning experience and I had some tense moments as I delivered it. It was so hot and all I could do was sit and watch the frosting slide off. I was able to do some quick repairs and I think it turned out okay and the people loved it, I guess that is what matters.
