Chocolate Cube Cake
This cake was completed in a bit of a rush so it's not the neatest of efforts. I'd like to redo taking my time as I like the design a lot. It's a vanilla cake layered with chocolate ganache, covered in chocolate ganache and then decorated with gumpaste cutouts made using a Martha Steward punch and painted gold. It was for my husband's birthday and he loved it.

Doris' 50Th
This cake is based on one of RenP's gorgeous designs - I used a different punch/cutter and different colours, but full credit for the creative genius must go to RenP! I made the cake for my SIL's 50th birthday. Top tier was lemon with white chocolate ganache, middle tier was chocolate with dark chocolate ganache and the bottom tier was a dummy. She loved it, so I was happy.

Blue Bird And Butterflies
Inspiration (okay, a blatant copy) from yorkiemom1023 and lepititcakes gorgeous creations. Mine was a 10 inch square vanilla cake with cherry IMBC for my daughter's seventh birthday. Gumpaste cutouts of blue birds and number seven from hand-drawn templates, clay gun used to create stems, butterflies and flowers from standard cutters. It came together really quickly and I love the colours.

The Mad Hatter's Tea Party
The hat is 1x7", 2x6", 1x5" chocolate cakes, filled with chocolate ganache, stacked, carved to shape, covered in ganache then covered in fondant. I used a necklace to texture the fondant, then dusted with black and green powdered colour to give it a fabric look and hand-painted the gold detail. Tea cups were made using the Wilton mini-wonder pans. Gumpaste teacup handles, gumpaste ribbon and gumpaste hat pin decorations. A dowel kept the teacups upright and attached to the hat. Made for my daughter's 7th birthday - we took 19x7 year old girls to see Alice in Wonderland at the movies then back to our place for a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. I was exhausted by the end of the day.

Fifi's Cottage
For my daughter's second birthday and inspired by the many beautiful FiFi cakes on this site. Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. 7 inch, 6 inch and 5 inch layers carved to shape, covered in sugarpaste with gumpaste decorations. FiFi all gumpaste and a lot of fun to make. My daughter loved it - she kept pointing to the door and saying "Open it, Mummy".

Chameleon
This was for my daughter's 6th birthday. Chococlate cake covered with fondant - my version of Collette Peter's 'Mr Sticky the Chameleon'. Great fun to make. I carved it at night and wasn't happy with it but couldn't work out why. I went to bed and when I woke up I knew exactly what was wrong - I hadn't carved the underneath - as soon as I shaped the bottom, it came to life. Fondant painted with petal dust/lustre dust to make it really vibrant.

Annie's 5Th Birthday
Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filiing, covered with fondant and hand painted with 'cranberry' lustre dust. Gumpaste flowers. Instructions for carving cake in Lindy Smith's Cakes to Inspire and Desire. I made this for my daughter's 5th birthday - she had a Bollywood themed party and all of the children came dressed in brightly coloured saris. The cake was meant to look like the silk fabric.

I made this cake for my MIL's birthday. Top tier is a dummy (we didn't need that much cake). Bottom tier is carrot cake. Covered in fondant with gumpaste roses, tulips, daphne, sweat pea and freesias. Flowers took about two weeks to make (mostly at night after children were in bed). Cake design inspired by Ron Ben-Israel.

Joan's Birthday
This was made for my MIL's birthday. Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and covered in white chocolate with gumpaste roses. The cake was made in the middle of winter (in the middle of the night) and the white chocolate set so fast that I couldn't get it smooth - in the end I just went with the slightly rustic look.
