Harry Potter Birthday Cake
Cake for DS's 7th birthday. Covered in chocolate fondant. Fondant sorting hat, Harry Potter figure and Marauder's map. In the final version, Harry is holding a wand. I did not add it until the party and then I forgot to take pictures. The rest are toys that I bought due to a lack of time.

Elmo
The cake that started it all. This was the very first cake I made for my first child's first birthday. I was so nervous I made a practice cake for work. Not knowing that you should start with chocolate icing to make black, I started with white and wondered why I had to use the whole bottle of black color. Needless to say my co-workers had purplish-black teeth after eating the cake. :O Not to mention that the black tastes terrible. Thank goodness they were so understanding/supportive of my attempt. :| I had enough time to learn from the mistakes and make a perfect cake for his party. TFL :)

Underwater Sea Creature Cake
Cake for 5 year old who wanted an underwater sea creature cake. All the decorations are chocolate/candy melts. The sand is light brown sugar. For the "creatures" I traced my son's coloring book in the melted chocolate. Some of them I put on lollipop sticks. It was really fun to make. Cake was vanillia-milk chocolate chips with chocolate hazelnut mousse filling and sugarshack's bc.

Christmas Trees And Presents Cake Topper
I know that this isn't a cake, but it was meant for a cake that never happened :( and I worked so hard on this topper that I really wanted to show it off ;) They are royal icing trees on sugar cones sprinkled with crushed green cake sparkles (the key was to sprinkle them on before it dried). The presents and cardinal bird were fondant. TFL

Ivy League Graduation Cake
This was for a PhD graduation from Yale. I thought the design was kinda ivy league-ish. The ideas were from some other cakes I've seen but cannot remember where from - some not on CC. Diploma is gumpaste with pearl dust. The rest is all bc. I was really unhappy with the writing on top because to save time I bought the pre-made gel by Wilton and it all ran together even though I tried to leave enough space. I was quite proud of the crest :) TFL

Cowboy Hat
Thanks to everyone for posting their hat pictures, for all the inspiration and instructions. The brim was gumpaste and the hat was iced with bc. I used 2 oval cakes (one small, one medium) and used scraps left over from the carving for the highest points of the hat. This was my first carving experience. The board is covered with scrapbooking paper and clear contact paper. TFL

Calla Lily Baptism Cake
This cake was inspired primarly by sugarshack's cakes as well as many others. Thanks Sharon for your help. The cake (7" and 10") was iced in sugar shack's icing with her techniques. I coated dragees with pearl dust and made royal icing crosses for the sides of the bottom tier. And I made all the gupaste flowers ( a first for me). The cross was purcahsed. WASC with raspberry filling. TFL

Wilton's Course 2 Bow Cake
All MFF decorations. This was my second attempt at making MFF. My first was a disaster. This time after all the cc advice it came together so much better. Thanks to all who posted about making MFF. Overall tho I was not happy with how this cake turned out but it had been a long day and I wasn't really into class. TFL

My First Bc Roses
Made this for my wilton I class and it also happened to be my DH's birthday. Everything is bc. Had a bit of a problem with the rose color (was suppossed to be purple) but did not have time to make more. Oh well. And the bc was a little too stiff so the petals are a little too jagged for my taste.
