...for my daughter's 9th birthday. She goes bowling often with her daddy. Devil's food with choco mousse and chocolate buttercream with fondant accents. Bowling pins made of rice crispy treats and fondant covered.
My nephew Nick's 16th birthday cake. It's a really small scale HD TV..since he got the 'real thing' for his birthday ( real flatscreen 42 ", this cake is maybe 14x18") He doesn't like frosting or fillings. Weird kid but lovable :) Basically is butter pound cake with fondant ( adhered with white chocolate and fondant Family Guy characters I drew, colored and applied( it's his fave tv show). Didn't turn out at all the way I was wanting it to. Basically my 1st attempt was to be impressive (in my mind)... but that one was more of a catastrophe so I had to scramble to put this together sorta last minute. He loved it anyways :)
Chi Town's Wrigley Field baseball park. Sour cream vanilla cake (multi colored inside),whipped ganache filling. Fondant & gum paste. I learned that the score board & the ivy wall are main distinction's for this ballpark as well as people watching the game from bldg rooftops. Oh & a white flag with a W on it when the Cubs win.
Sammy's baseball glove 6-3-2009..12 yrs old...triple chocolate cake with fudgy icing and ganache filling ...'huge' cake, hand carved...mmf covered. The ball is sourcream white cake with vanilla BC icing and fondant also.
Grad Cake..school colors blue and yellow. Lower tier is 'chocolate explosion' cake with hershey's syrup and choc chips incl in a devils food batter and choc whipped ganache fill. Middle layer is strawberry cake with a strawberry cream cheese mousse fill and top layer is sour cream white with lemon mousse fill. all fondant covered. This cake represents all the milestones in school that relates to this young lady, my niece...her first school books ( all drawn and or painted in with food colors ) incl Dr. Suess, ABC's, Dick and Jane up to Virginia Wolf, Anne Frank, Algebra, English comp etc; you get the picture. Then other simple drawings of her school emblems, and the posters of her biggest plays she was in during her high school years. School lockers including little personals like backpack, shoes, sticky notes, mirror, books and her Mc Donald's bag (Mc Donald's was one of the personal food groups for this young lady and she still has beautiful skin and a fabulous figure ). Then of course, her grad cap. I included some curly ribbon in school colors and tiny diplomas in curly floral wire springing off the top of the 'books' cake.
My niece wanted a tropical cake for her birthday. She originally wanted a disco cake which I had prepared for then but there was a change of plans about 2 days before her birthday. So this is what I came up with at a moments notice thanks to some inspirational cakes here on CC. Bottom tier is 'triple threat chocolate' and top layer is 'bananna butterfinger'...accents are candy clay ( 1st time using candy clay thanks to the help recieved from KHalstead and JoAnnB).Palm tree,umbrellas, picks-signs inedible

This was a 2nd cake to go with my Fender guitar I posted in a diff pic. I never had the chance to get a pic of them side by side..but both were 'life size' and was a big hit. Devil's food and all iced in buttercream
This was made for a local church hosting a ladies guild meeting. It is a sourcream white cake with peach cream cheese filling, It was 3 layers of cake and 2 layers of filling..1/2 sheet.
My neice turned 15 and has an uncanny ability to send 5000+ text messages despite using a phone for about 3 months with out a numberpad, while needing an ink pen to press in characters, and only half the display worked..This cake seemed fitting. It's Italian cream w/ creamchese icing. The sms pic is FBRT
HUGE choco kiss for Fathers Day cake. Used 6 stacked devils food cakes to carve this kiss. All choco buttercream with white fondant flag/strip , I had actually gotten this idea from another CC member but I don't know their name but I remember that this was a really neat idea andcouldn't wait to make one myself :)
This was a cake for my niece who turned 16 last week and wanted a red carpet movie awards theme. She is a drama dept high school star. This is butter cakes and devils food cakes. Chocolate buttercream frosting and fondant and gumpaste accents. It was "2 thumbs up"!

This devils food with colored vanilla buttercream. It was 4 layers for the head and 2 layers fro the legs so it was more 3-Dish in person than in this pic. Oh..and It had a fudge mane. and cookies stood up for the ears.
Sourcream vanilla cake with buttercream and MMF. My neice turned 10 yrs old and she wanted a 'teired-festive-colorful' cake and so I also did 'swirly colors' inside cake batter with food colorings ..She had a pinanta this year so I had the idea of 'explosive candies' on top. I had never done a whimsical before but always wanted to. I can honestly say this was the hardest one I've ever done. I either need to make others for the practice or never make one again for the serenity :) decision pending.

This was done for my son's gilfriend who a college grad dance mgt student & soon off to Disney World to be amongst the cast of stars as part of an internship. Blue and white stars ( fondant) are the college mascot for OCU. Rope bookmark is fondant as well as college letterhead image..the rest is buttercream. However, the little 'ensamble' above the letterhead image isn't hand crafted..it is a set of scrapbook stickers on laminate that she can re-use in her own non-edible album when the cake is gone :)
