My son had a Tiki themed birthday party and wanted a cake that looked like a volcano. I took several elements from different ideas on the web and combined them to come up with this. It's made from regular boxed chocolate cake mix and plain old chocolate frosting. The "Lava" is dyed vanilla frosting that was "melted" in the microwave before pouring it down the volcano. This was my first really different cake - and inspired me to get busy making all kinds of cakes since!
