Fondant covered cake with fondant grapes and gumpaste grape leaves. The bride brought a photo she wanted and was very pleased with the outcome. I don't have an airbrush, so I mixed luster dust with vodka and put it in a spray bottle, misted the cake before putting on the leaves, then lightly brushed the surface to blend.
Fondant covered with gumpaste flowers in various shades of lavender/purlple. The topper was the hardest part. Not being a florist, I found wiring the flowers to the base a real challange!
Chocolate cake, chocolate filling, chocolate BC, covered with poured chocolate ganache, then chocolate tiles. Accented with fresh fall fruits. This cake resulted in alot more business!
I live in the Adirondack Mts of northern NYS. This was for a bride whose wedding was under a tent in her Grandma's backyard, right on the lake on a picture perfect day. The cake was covered in buttercream, then the mountains were hand cut of fondant and painted with luster dusts and snowcapped with more BC. The brides dad made the birch stand.
This "New Age" couple wanted a sea turtle with a top hat for a groom's cake. I wasn't quiet sure how I was going to do it, but loved results. Start with an oval cake, top with a smaller round, then carving. All buttercream icing with a black gumpaste top hat.
White chocolate sea shells colored with luster and pearl dusts to complement the brides choice of a peachy-sand butter cream icing. The staff at the reception site went bonkers when they found out the shells were edible. I suspect that a few did not make it out on the serving plates. The bride and groom were very pleased and it is one of my favorites!
