Baby Shower Cake For Pro Football Wife
This was my very first cake for profit! Done for the baby shower of a wife of a pro football player. Though you can't see it, I did sculpt a mini football and placed it in the crib as a nod to dad. The crib, rocking chair and wall (incl. chair rail & waincoting) are gumpaste. The bear, mom, quilt, rug and curtains are fondant. The cake is covered in fondant. Top is chocolate cake with raspberry mousse; bottom is coconut white cake with mango coconut mousse.

Bird Family Tree Cake
I made this cake for my Gradma Bird's 88th birthday and literally constructed the Bird family tree. In addition to having the last name "Bird," she's an avid bird watcher, so I included a bird feeder, bird bath and birds feeding along the ground. The cake is covered in MMF. The tree was molded from cake crumbs mixed with buttercream then iced over in royal icing. Birds and nests are MMF. Bird bath is royal icing (with a royal icing covered pretzel stick base) filled with colored piping gel for water.

Flowery Cupcake Tree
I decorated these cupcakes for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She had a Disney Princess-themed party, but she wanted cupcakes with flowers. I used the Disney Princess theme colors for the roses on the cupcakes and they went beautifully with all of the rest of the decorations. All of the kids were thrilled to each have so many of their very own flowers to eat. The cupcakes were decorated with all buttercream.

My First Wedding Cake
I deliberately collared the cake pans in order to obtain more height for each layer. The cake is frosted in buttercream. The flowers are all royal icing. Additionally, I added buttercream dots on the sides of the cake. The cake was actually my final project for a cake class I took in May 2006.

My First Cake Using Fondant
I am very grateful to this site's contributors. Using information gleaned from cakecentral I decorated my first fondant cake last night! White base and pink stripes are MMF. Roses are raspberry-flavored buttercream (they did not turn out quite as well as I'd hoped...) sprinkled with clear edible glitter. I am taking this cake to a gathering of my close friends today. It seems our lives are so busy we're only able to get together a couple times a year. That's excuse enough to me to warrant a cake!
