My first attempt at a swag done on the side of the cake. This was done freehand with a variation of tips and buttercream frosting.

Believe it or not, this was for my daughter's 2nd birthday. She absolutely loves Samurai Jack, she calls him her boyfriend ^^ This is an 8" round decorated with buttercream frosting. I outlined Jack freehand and filled it in with a small round tip.
My nephew couldn't decide whether or not he wanted the Hulk or Spiderman, so I told him he didn't have to decide and I managed to come up with this. It's just a 1/2 sheet cake decorated with buttercream frosting; I managed to find the little figures at a Christmas clearance sale, they were ornaments.
I made this for my friend's daughters 4th birthday. After frosting the entire cake, I made my own stencil for the pony's body and used Wilton's blue spray to color it. Then I outlined all the details in black and filled everything in with a variety of tips and finished it off with a couple of cute butterflies and cake sprinkles.
This was my first cake done using fondant; the whole top is rolled fondant and all the roses and the butterfly is fondant. The basket weave and the border are buttercream frosting. This was originally going to be a basket full of flowers, but the handle that I tried to make kept breaking, so I gave up.
