i saw something similar to this at the midatlantic cakeshow and fell in love with it. And as I have friends whose annversary is today (st. patrick's day) who have a wonderful sense of humor, I thought "happy aniversary to Ewe!" was a good theme for them. hope you like it!
someone in the forums had asked about making a long stemmed rose, so as I was doing roses anyway tonight I thought I'd do a couple as long stemmed (well, longish) to show what I had described. I need these for another project so didn't want to waste too much material doing them really long.

the cake is bigger than it looks - 2 standard 8" cakes, plus another 8" cake on the top that has been carved to give the curve of the head. The cake are separated and stacked to make cutting easier. Nowi just hope I get it to the party in one piece - it's heavy!

I made a practice ckae using buttercream and the dot/flatten method. My hand crmped and I was about ready to die. I found something easier . . . convered the cake in icing then fondant, then used a meat tenderizer cleaver to get the impressions. Then use very thinly rolled black fondant for the lines. SO quick.
