1/2 yellow and 1/2 chocolate fudge. Buttercream filling and iced under fondant. Sprayed with silver and blue. Edible image that I overlaid with fondant letter cutouts. There was a pull tab on top. Also royal icing writing.
2 Candles are carrot cake and 2 are marble both with cream cheese filling and modelling chocolate covered. Sprayed with bronze and copper colored sprays. Acorns and flower are fake and tea lights were inserted. This was for my family's thanksgiving buffet table. I asked my Mom to light the candles and she still didn't know they were cakes.

Cake for a friend's parents 30th wedding anniversary. The road of their married life began when they met at college, through all the places they lived and children/grandchildren. There's a Cincinnati flying pig with a Reds cap and Bengals jersey. Gumpaste topper. They grey car was made from a mold I made from with a matchbox car. Cinn Swirl, Choc Fudge and WASC cake flavors with buttercream. Thanks for all the previous cake inspirations for this. It was such a big hit since all of the details were so personal.
Jessie was on the track team at school so she's wearing her usual track outfit under her graduation gown. Strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream under SI fondant. Gumpaste graduate.
Graduation cake for my neighbor. French Vanilla cake with buttercream filling and under fondant. Hokie bird is gum paste and based on her favorite Polka dotted Hokie statue. Edible image of she and her friends. Stone wall made with help of a stone-looking texture mat and dusted with coloring.
This was actually for my mother's 70th birthday - she loves baby dolls (thought it looked more like a baby shower cake than a birthday cake). Gumpaste head (from mold) and back part of the bassinette (used soccer ball pan as mold), pastel blue, yellow, pink swirl cake with buttercream filling.. She wouldn't let us cut it at her party because she just wanted to look at it for a few more days before she cut it... so far it's still intact!
Cake for a 40th birthday for a world traveller. This was only about 1/4 of the places he's gone. Chocolate Fudge cake with dulce de leches filling. Camera is krispie treats. Thanks to clever-squirrel and deijha for their cake inspirations as well as many other wonderful suitcase cakes on this site!
A family is moving to Denver so this was for a going away party. Thanks to Humblepie and TheCakeMaker-1970 and all the other fantastic skiing cakes on CC for their inspiration. This is marble cake with buttercream icing and gumpaste figures. A lot of fun to make.
White cake covered in fondant for the bowling ball. It was two of Wilton soccer pans with a round cake in the middle carved slightly to make the ball perfectly round (they need more servings than the sportsball pan provided). Pins were french vanilla cupcakes with NFSC pins with fondant icing.
For a friend's parents 50th anniversary party. They are getting ready to go on this ship. Yellow cake at top, Chocolate for the bottom and buttercream under fondant. Railings are fondant and royal icing.
Cake for my son who's the biggest Alabama fan. Chocolate cake with buttercream under fondant. Fondant accents. Had a hard time with this because I think maybe the sizes of pans I was told to use was wrong or maybe my imagination wasn't good enough. I used two 8" rounds and a sports ball pan. The sports ball cake was so small compared to the 8" rounds. Next time I'll use either a pyrex bowl or possibly the soccer ball pan.
For a friend's adorable daughter. These were designed after the birthday girl's stuffed animals. 10/3/4 oval pan with 2 mini wondermold cakes for the bodies and no-fail sugar cookies with royal icing for the heads. Fondant arms, legs and details. Marble cake.
