buttercream with fondant cut outs
This was my first attempt at making a 3-D figure out of fondant. I think next time I'll use gumpaste- the fondant didn't want to stay together. I need to use better support attaching it to the cake too.
This is much simpler than most of the cakes entered, but it is for a very small, informal wedding. Bottom layer is chocolate, top layer is white. Chocolate mousse filling. Flowers and frosting are all buttercream.
I got this idea from another forum I'm on. The buns are 'nilla wafers, the hamburgers are snickers, and the hotdogs and plates are starburst.
My first attempt at frozen buttercream transfer
This was a last-minute cake for my nieces, so I didn't have time to make the tiara out of RI. I used white candy melts and sprinkled it with silver luster. Not as dainty as the RI looks, but the girls still loved it.
