Hydrangea Swirl Cake
Practice for me, cake for hubby. This is an 8 inch white chocolate cake with buttercream icing and leftover royal hydrangea flowers from my quinceanera cake. If I am practicing new techniques, it should still be pretty. LOL. The leaf border was fun to do with tip 67 as you would a regular shell border. Thanks for looking.

Quinceanera On Okinawa
This is a 14, 10, 8, 6, 6, half ball pan tiered yellow cake in buttercream with royal hydrangeas. The doll is part of the tradition and resembles the birthday girl's dress. It was my first cake of this size. It serves 164 people. They are such a lovely family and wanted their daughter to have a big party, even if it was so far away from home and family. Fun cake to do, but now I'm sore! LOL. Design by Peggy Porschen. Thanks for looking.

Mini Bear & Fondant Guitar Baby Shower Cake
This cake was for a mom-to-be and daddy-to-be who love the Boston Red Sox baseball team and daddy plays electric guitar. The guitar strings were spaghetti painted in silver luster dust. The cake is a 10" with a single 6" round and mini bear pan on top. I love cakes that are made with sentimental touches, it makes them more meaningful to the recipient. Thanks for looking!

Bc Version Of Nati's Cake
I was so inspired by the beautiful fondant green striped cake of Nati's that I had to try it in BC for a birthday cake due today. It turned out fabulous, thanks Nati! Thanks to the Melvira Method, it was smooth and perfect. I did learn a few things like next time, don't put the stripes too close together, so that when you smooth them out, they have room to spread. That's why there's a bit of a wave there on some of the stripes. This was 3, 6" lemon cake w/blueberry filling.

Competition Cake - Tribute To Okinawa
I made this cake this weekend for the small cake competition here on base. I got 3rd place. This cake was all about Okinawa. I made the cherry blossoms, the kokeshi doll and the Okinawan inspired fan from fondant. My filling was Beni Imo also known as the Okinawan Sweet Potato. It is purple. I am thrilled with how it turned out. It is exactly as I planned.

Wedding Shower Sheet Cake
This was a first for me. This is the largest cake I have ever made. It served 108 people. It was definitely a learning experience. Next time I will definitely have 2 shoes made, hubby broke one, so I had to make another and it also broke. Leaf strategically placed with royal. :) --How much should I charge for a cake like this? It is a doctored box cake, no filling, just BC. -- The cake is 12x18 stacked with fondant roses, leaves, wedding rings, and shoe painted in pearl LD with tip 10 bead border

My First Cheeseburger Cake
Again, thanks to all the awesome burgers in the gallery! What inspiration! I used half a ball pan for the top bun and a 6 inch round for the "meat" and the bottom bun. I used tip 5 for the mustard, 127 for the cheese, and 104 for the lettuce. I took this cake to our craft center to help promote my former cake instructor's classes. The Okinawans could not believe it was cake. They kept asking if you eat it. LOL! I'm going to be in the newspaper with my instructor and my cakes! Thanks to CC!!

My First Spaghetti Cake
Thank you to all those awesome spaghetti cakes in the gallery! What fun! I used tip 5 as other suggested and took out the real spaghetti to color it to match. I used BC and used golden yellow and ivory for the spaghetti. I used half a ball pan and cake scraps to make the meatballs, homemade piping gel for the red sauce and shaved white choc. for parmesean. I took it for a display today at the craft center and the Okinawans could not believe it was cake! Too funny!

Daisy Baby Bootie Shower Cake
I made this cake today for a friend who is throwing a baby shower. I am so thrilled with how it turned out. Daisies are so much fun to make and are so sweet and simple on cakes, this is my first time to use daisies exclusively on a cake. I have a great tip! I used tip 233, the grass tip, to make the center of the daisy. It turned out perfectly with little raised bumps and looks much more realistic than a plain dot in the middle. I just took my moist brush and dabbed them with cake sparkles.

Wilton Course 3 Finale Cake
Whew!! I'm done! Yea! This cake is done in ivory MMF flavored with vanilla caramel. I used fondant w/gumtex to make the roses. I coated them with silver luster dust, very lightly to give them a shimmery look. I used a heart 6 inch shaped cake pan, doubled for the top and a 10x3 inch on the bottom, made from white cake mix. I also used a diamond shaped impression mat on the round and a lined impression mat for the heart, first time to use those. This cake was definitely a learning experience for me.

Whimsical Birthday Cake
I am resubmitting because Pursurette was so sweet to edit out the background for me! Thank you! I made this cake for my DD's 2nd birthday. She was born during a typhoon and on her first birthday another typhoon struck and dad wasn't able to be here. So this 2nd birthday, I wanted it to be special. I used royal icing for the letters and buttcream icing all around. It's 2, 6 x 2 inch on top, and 1, 10 x 3 on the bottom. Thanks for looking!

Motorcycle Birthday Cake
Buttercream icing with reverse shells. I just found a toy motorcycle and used my oval shaped pan from course II. I learned afterwards that the cake would have looked better written in script than curly cursive since it was supposed to be a manly cake. LOL. Oh well, I'm still learning! Thanks for looking. Oh and thanks to all the gals in the "motorcycle" gallery for all their orange flame inspiration!

Rosebud Heart Cake
This is the 3rd mini practice cake I made during the typhoon today. I froze these rosebuds from course 2 class the other day, just so I could use them for practice. I am very pleased with this cake. I had never done scrolls with thin icing before. I found out that my neighbor had her baby the other day, so I walked this one over to her with it in a coverered container. LOL. She was so thrilled. Thanks for looking!

Practice Drop Flower Cake
We are had a typhoon today and I decided that I would use the time to practice, so I made 3 small cakes. This cake is a loaf cake and I just used the class buttercream to make the drop flowers using 2D. Since I had only done a few in class, I took a large foil covered cakeboard and piped out about 50 drop flowers, froze them and picked the best to put kind of in a random pattern around the cake. I practiced my reverse shell, which is kind of hard at the base.

All Dutch Chocolate: Wilton Course I, Class 3 Cake
We have not technically finished instruction on the rose yet, but I wanted to challenge myself. I have definitely improved, they're not so flat anymore. LOL. This cake was made using Wilton's Choc. BC recipe with powdered Dutch Chocolate. I had no idea it would get that dark. It was hot in class and my icing was breaking down even though I had it in a cold bag and ice packs. --Thanks for looking.

Hello Kitty-- First Course 1 Cake!
I made this Hello Kitty cake using the gel transfer method. Loved it! Her bow is supposed to be on the right hand side, but oh well. She is made with 1/2 and 1/2 buttercream and of white cake mix. You can't tell, but her face has edible glitter all over. My 6 year old DD loved it! Thanks for looking.

Baby Rattle
My first cake submitted to this gallery! I made this cake yesterday for my son's teacher's surprise baby shower at school today. I got the idea from a 1985 Wilton's catalog. I used writing tips, ruffle tips, a weaving tip, glitter & letter press. The colors are sky blue & lemon yellow. The cake itself is 12x18 and I used half a ball pan for the rattle. It took 3 & 1/4th cake batters to make this cake. I used white boxed cake mix & added 2 tsp. extra vanilla & 1 tsp. baking powder and sifted the mix.
