This is the smash cake I did to go with the hugs-in-stiches caterpillar. Not exactly what I wanted to do but I had to decorate it in about 10 minutes.
For a friend's daughter's 1 year b-day party. The cakes were choc, yellow, and strawberry each with a filling. BC icing, MMF decorations and sugar cookie name. I was really happy with the way this one turned out and my friend just hugged me when she saw it. Thanks for looking.
For a neighbor's son who turned 2. Marble cake with bc filling and icing. Buttercream transfers of curious George on each side of the cake and MMF bananas. I heard later that day that they really loved the cake. I love hearing that!

My in-laws celebrated their 40th anniversary earlier this month and we had a little family dinner when they got home from their anniversary trip to Europe. So, instead of a cake I made sugar cookies for the first time in about 20 years and they were a lot of fun. I still need a lot of practice but I'm over my first time phobia!

My second cake of the weekend, for my neighbor's daughter's at birthday. All she said was do something with ladybugs and flowers. Choc cake w/cookies-n-cream filling, MMF flowers and royal icing ladybugs. It was a lot of fun to make.
For my neighbor's son who turned 5 and desparately wanted a Star Wars cake. This is what I came up with and for my first FBCT I think it turned out pretty well. Too thick probably but I'll take it. My SIL needed a cake for a quarterly work picnic and said they are playing cornhole, which is a local game here in Cincinnati where you throw corn filled bags on to a board for points, and that their company colors are royal blue and white. My husband's aunt has 3 parties every summer, Memorial Day, July 4th & Labor Day so I decided to make a "pool cake" for the Labor Day party. They have a pool so I thought it would be cute to try it and her invitations this time were flip flops so that's why you see all the flip flops. It was yellow cake torted with ganache, BC icing and MMF decorations. The diving board started to bend a little by the time we got there but the cake was a huge hit and tasted great.
My 3-year old daughter helped me make the cake and since I had extra batter we made a 6-inch for her to decorate on her own. She had so much fun but it was hard keeping the icing out of her mouth.
Chocolate cake with BC icing. I used my recipe instead of the class recipe so that's why it's ivory :) Also, I wasn't big on the birds so they were left off on purpose. I had a lot of fun in this class, mainly because of my teacher. The flowers were fun to do but those daisies were much harder than I expected. My husband took it to work and said it was a huge hit. I did this cake (my second paid cake) for a friend who's father and uncle are twins turning 70. Thanks to CustomcakesbySharon for the inspiration. Yellow & choc cakes w/cookies & cream filling w/BC icing. Boy did my icing turn out green!! I wasn't happy with my smoothing job this time around but with it being a grass type of cake I gave myself a little slack. Need major working on molding figures!!! My friend picked it up today and loved it so hopefully everyone else at the party will

I made this for my friends who are having twins and aren't finding out the gender. It was a lot of firsts for me. First time using a sqaure pan, MMF, and stacking a cake. I had a couple of boo boos but it seemed to turn out okay. I had plenty of critiques on it but everyone at the shower loved it. The bottom was yellow cake with cookies and cream fillng with BC icing. The top was chocolate with cookies and cream filling and BC incing. Any comments are welcome.
Here is my final cake from Course I. It's marble cake with a choc truffle filling and BC icing. I wasn't too excited with the decorations because I wanted to do a different design but our instruction kind of pushed us all to this one. Roses turned out okay, I call them my "knockout" roses. People at work the next day loved it, so I guess it's not too bad.
My clown cake from Course I, third class. Not that jazzed about it but it's practice and that's what it's all about. I wish I had done the clowns in solid colors but our instructor wanted us to practice striping a bag. I'm sure my 3-year old will love it :)
The rainbow cake from Course I, second class. I was happy with it as it was pretty simple and it was my first time using the paper towel method which I really like. I did learn one thing, don't wear a baseball hat as I accidentally jabbed my cake with the bill of the hat.
This one is from 3 years ago. I saw it in my sister's Wilton book and fell in love with it. It was really my first decorative cake and I had so much fun. The cakes were choc, yellow, and marble with bc icing. The feet were candies and cookies for her name.
For my daughter's 2nd birthday. The cakes were yellow and choc with bc icing. For some reason I had an extra cake so I made my daugher her own.
This is my first cake to show on this website. My 3-year old daughter wanted an orange Dora cake so she got one. I'm currently taking my first cake decorating class so it was fun to try get the icing as smooth as possible and my first time working with fondant. The cake is choc with bc icing and fondant decorations. My daughter loved it.
