Bride really wanted bright teal scrolls, I refused. Love it when they listed. Went with the gold, the trim on the board echoed the color on the tables. (not totally random) Drove this cake 58 miles, stuck my finger in it, carried it myself (16", 12", 8") thing weighted a tonne.. had to walk up stairs, downstairs, around the restaurant.. fun fun.
Not a grouper, not a red grouper.. a black grouper.
This is a 12" cake.. so imagine the size of those berries. They were easily 3" across on some of them! (Yay Florida)
Yes, I realize the gold board doesn't go. It is just there because I use in under the real cake plate while in transport. (easier to handle)
I get a fun cake order, get all excited about doing it.. and it's on a saturday. For those of you who don't work in a retail bakery enviroment, that means CRAZY! We just opened a new store, and they expected us to be slow. We arn't. So just me on a saturday. So anyways, Saturday, by myself, 15 cake orders. Not a problem right? Wrong. Not only that but my entire decadent dessert case is out of date. Ganache? Yeah, no 5 min. affair. So THIS order. 1 hour later and I'm out of time. Toys will be added today.
My best friends daughter REALLY wanted a beaver cake for her 6th birthday. It amused us to no end to hear "I wanna eat the beaver!" from a group of kids. Yes... twisted. No.. not my fault. This woul dhave been a WHOLE lot better had I not just been coming off a 12 hour shift, and had to make it at home in 45 minutes, get changed, and get the cake the 20 miles to her house. Next time.. cake the night ahead.. or do it at work.

Fondant Dummy Cake.. I saw a picture of a simaler cake in a wedding magazine one of my friends gave me, so when I had to do a dummy cake for my stores Grand Opening I thought it would be fun. 12" & 8" I think it was.

Customer wanted these butterflies on her cake. Not my thing, but alright.
Buttercream frosting, and royal icing roses.
This was the second cake. An hour before I went to the shower I went to check on the first cake, and it was so hot in the bakery the buttercream had melted, causing the fondant to droop and fall off. So I had one hour to get it done, and out of the shop, on the road. The lines would have been A LOT straighter if I had the time. (Roses took priority)

Whole picture of fish cake. I was not happy about the name, but that is probably just because I don't like names on cakes. (Find it unnecessary) The bubbles were painted with luster dust so they were shiny little pearls. Looked neat in person.
Bride brought in a picture from "The Knot" and wanted that cake. Done in Vanilla cake, alternating layers of filling. FUN! (It matches my living room)
Fondant Mahi Mahi, made with Toba's fondant. Cake is Vanilla, with Cream cheese frosting, glazed with clear gel, and then airbrushed with blues to create depth. Baby shower cake. Fish was airbrushed with bakery craft colors, with added lusterdust, and then details painted on.
1/4 sheet (9x13) Vanilla cake, with apple pie filling. Done as a grooms cake for a co-worker.
