Wacky-Tacky Sweet 13
The teenager-to-be wanted a wacky tacky cake with these colors. She also wanted it topsey-turvey, but that one was an "epic failure" as my kids like to say :) This is cake try #2. :) Top is German Chocolate, bottom is yellow cake with raspberry BC. All decorations are MMF. TFL
Just Monkey-Ing Around
A fun gluten free chocolate chip cake with MMF decorations. I saw someone's monkey on here that had a banana on it's head (there's was cuter) and took the idea. I think my monkey looks crazed, but that's why we practice these things...lol I gave the palm trees some texture by cutting into the fondant with kitchen scissors. I like the look.
Not the best, but I tried. I figured I'd put it up in case someone else is challenged to do a 20 sided die. It was fine, not great, but fine.
Primary colors and fun shapes in MMF cover this gluten free pineapple cake done for our school's carnival
Star Trek "city On The Edge Of Forever"
This cake recreates the planet surface from the original Star Trek episode "The City on the Edge of Forever". The Guardian stands ready. :)Cake is triple chocolate with toffee BC, all pieces are fondant, and "sand" is raw sugar. The sign reads "Many such journeys are possible" and is what the Guardian says to Kirk when they return. TFL
Literally threw this last one together for the school cakewalk. I had fondant "Deathstar," and ships left from one day I was just playing around to see if I *could* make them. :) Tossed them on the cake and added a star border. Cake is gluten and nut free chocolate with BC and fondant accents. Thanks to all the recent Star Wars cakes for help and inspiration- esp. whoever posted about using the styrofoam ball as the base of the Deathstar. TFL
Second of 3 cakes quickly made for school cakewalk. Had no ideas but wanted something kid friendly. Cake is gluten, egg and nut free with BC and fondant. I again used the piping gel mixed with coloring for the water. Thanks to all the Kermit cakes for inspiration, and TFL.
Down On The Farm
A very quickly made cake on a day so hot the piping gel "water" melted and ran down the side! Cake is gluten, egg, dairy, and nut free chocolate with BC and fondant animals. Piping gel mixed with gel coloring for water. Thanks to all the cakes on here for inspiration/ideas. TFL
This was made to welcome back the staff of an elementary school. The school's colors are blue and white and they asked for something to recognize their "stellar" staff. Bottom is chocolate with raspberry BC, top is pineapple cake with key lime BC- it tasted better than it sounds! All decorations are MMF. Thanks for looking.
Funny New Year's Resolutions Cake
My teenager thought of the idea of a "morning after" resolutions cake. The cake is a champagne cake with strawberry BC filling. All decorations are MMF, except for the aluminum foil strip on the "pencil". The coffee cup was a last minute addition, hand molded because everything was already cleaned up! :) Thanks for looking.
American Girl Store Cake
Made to match the interior of the American Girl, Los Angeles, store. We had "doll day" at the store and then home for cake. The dolls got matching cupcakes. :)
"not So" Sweet 16
Made for a girl who hates pink and loves to wear black, red, and purple. Not goth, or so she says, but more like a dark Mary Engelbreit thing. Top tier is yellow cake with raspberry buttercream, bottom is chocolate with mocha. All decorations are fondant.
Dora The Explorer
So many firsts for me with this cake. Made for my friend's daughter, after she fell in love with tiffy76620's cake. I made a couple small changes, but it's really close. Top and bottom layers are chocolate with chocolate buttercream, middle is lemon with raspberry buttercream. All decorations are fondant, and Dora is covered in fondant as my friend didn't have a princess Dora figurine. "Firsts" for me- delivering a stacked cake, and assembling on site-with people around watching (YIKES!!)
Millenium Falcon Cake
Millenium Falcon from Star Wars. First time carving a cake! Yellow cake, dense, fondant with piped on details. Thanks for all the other Falcon cakes on this site I used for help! :o)
Regular boxed cake, made for practice. My first Halloween cake, ever! White cake, raspberry B.C. middle and all B.C. outside. I freehanded the skeleton, which is why he has two different sized feet! Orange frosting got way too soft, so pumpkins are wonky. Made for a friend's party.
Allergy Friendly Dinosaur Dream!
Made for a boy's 6th birthday. Gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free, and nut-free chocolate cake with chocolate filling and allergy friendly decorations. Frosted in dairy-free BC, molding chocolate for volcano with life saver "lava" and fondant "boulders." Dinosaurs and turtles were plastic figures. I don't (yet) have the grass tip or I would have used it. Still, I only do this for my little guy and he was pretty darn happy! THANKS!!!! to all the posted cakes I used for inspiration.
