Princess Castle Birthday Cake
I made this cake for my niece's 3rd birthday. The cake is cherry chip iced with buttercream. (This is the first time that I have used parchment paper to smooth the cake. Awesome!! I will totally use that method again.) The white and pink dots are mints. For the centre 'tower' I used a bamboo skewer to secure it to the cake to prevent it from falling over. My niece absolutely loved her princess cake! Thanks for looking.

Accordion Birthday Cake
Made this 7x11 vanilla cake iced with buttercream for my husband's birthday this year. The accordion was the first instrument that he learned to play so he challenged me to make this for him. Very easy to do. I cut the corner off of one side so that the piano keys would be lower than the make part of the cake. Used the big Wilton icing tip to make the pleats. Next time I would ice the pleats smooth and use an edging comb instead to make the pleats. Thanks for looking.

Farm Birthday Cake
I made this cake for my cousin's little boy who was turning two. Her son is infatuated with farms, John Deere tractors and holstein cows in particular, as my uncle owns a dairy farm. It was a last minute request so the local dollar store was able to help out with the farm themed props. Half vanilla, half chocolate cake iced with buttercream. The lane is graham wafer crumbs. Guests thought the 'grass' was really fun. Thanks for looking.

Simple Yet Elegant Wedding Cake
I made this cake for my wedding which was an intimate affair of 15 people. We were striving for a simple and elegant theme. The bottom layer is styrofoam covered in fondant. The middle layer (which we served to our guests) was vanilla covered in fondant and the top layer (which we saved and ate on our first anniversary) was also vanilla covered in fondant. White balls around all of the bases were hand rolled fondant. First time working with fondant and I loved it!! Thanks for looking.

Not Quite Over The Hill
Made this cake for my husband's 40th birthday when we celebrated with his family. Chocolate layer cake with buttercream icing. In between the two layers I iced with buttercream then sprinkled with toffee bits. When we ate the cake the middle tasted like caramel. Yum! Thanks for looking.

Dora The Explorer Birthday Cake
This is a cake I made for my niece's second birthday. She was a huge Dora fan at the time. White buttercream with Royal icing transfers. (This was the first time that I attempted working with Royal icing.) Placed wax paper over the desired pictures in a Dora book then iced the image and let dry. When dry I transferred it to the top of the cake. After several hours of travel time to the party, the Royal icing was soft as it absorbed moisture from the buttercream. Not sure if I will do it again.

Number 1 Birthday Cake
I made this cake for a friend's daughter who was turning One. Wilton Number One cake pan with buttercream icing. The letters for the name are coloured chocolate, the beach ball is an orange gumball, the whales are jujubes, the sand is graham wafer crumbs, towel and air mattress are fondant, and the trees are spearmint leaves and breadsticks. Thanks to this site for the great luau ideas as that was the theme for the party. Thanks for looking.

Cookie Bouquet - First Attempt
This was my very first attempt at a cookie bouquet. No fail sugar cookies with poured cookie icing. I was quite pleased with my efforts until the cookies started falling off the bamboo skewers one by one. It never did make it to the intended recipient. After reading some postings in the Cookies! forum I know that next time I should use a little piece of extra dough to cover the back of the skewer to prevent this from happening again. Oh well, thanks for looking.
