Gray And Black Bridal Shower
This cake matches the bridesmaid's dresses that we will be wearing. I lucked out - I made the Buttercream Dream recipe from the files and didn't realize that it has a shimmer to it. When I colored the icing gray, it ended up looking silvery which matched the color I was going for perfectly. The topper is chocolate clay with chocolate piping. The cake is the Whimsical Bakehouse's "Freckled Mocha" cake with Bailey's Irish Cream flavored buttercream

New Niece's Cake (Again)
This is my fourth attempt at a cake for my newborn niece. The first cake came out heavy and dense, so I threw it out. The second one was perfectly golden and moist, as my two-year old can attest to as he dug into it as it was cooling on the counter. The third one slid around in transit, so here is number 4. The cake is choc. with choc. buttercream. Buttercream icing and drop flowers and chocolate transfer letters on top. Wish me luck dropping this off! I don't know if I have a fifth attempt in me!

Chocolate Transfer New Baby Cake
This cake is for my brand new niece, Nevaeh. The cake is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream filling and WBH House Buttercream frosting. I piped the letters for Nevaeh's name (choc. transfer). Unfortunately, the cake layers slid apart in the car on the way to the hospital so I didn't get to give the cake to the new parents. I'll have to try again.

Topiary Birthday Cake
This cake is for my sister-in-law's birthday. The cake is chocolate with raspberry flavored buttercream filling. I carved some extra chocolate cake to make the pot for the topiary and covered it with MMF. I baked a little bit of the cake batter in a very small glass bowl to get the top of the topiary. I covered that with buttercream and stuck MMF ribbon roses to it. The sides of the cake are Pirouette cookies.

Chocolate Transfer Topper
This was the topper for the chocolate birthday cake with the vines / drop flowers on top. I just made a chocolate transfer for the numbers out of sage green chocolate. I put skewers in and made them a bit thicker than usual. When the chocolate had set, I then piped small buttercream drop flowers all over it. I really like this effect and will be doing it often!

Bonfire Cake
We went to a family bonfire tonight to celebrate four family birthdays. This cake is an 8" round on a 10" square. Both are white cakes with milk chocolate covered toffee bits and then filled with WBH House Buttercream with the same toffee bits mixed in. Then they are covered with ganache. The bonfire itself (flames and sparks) are chocolate transfers, as are the trees. The leaves and rocks around the bonfire are MMF. I also sprinkled crushed chocolate under the fire to look like dirt.

Castle Cookie
This is a chocolate transfer on a cookie. The cookie was first covered in MMF and stenciled with pearl dust. I then piped the castle scene with melted candy melts and when it hardened, I attached it to the cookie. I love doing chocolate transfers and figured that if they worked well on cakes, they'd work on cookies, too!

Rose Planter Cookie
This is obviously a very impractical cookie, but my thought was that you could make one elaborate centerpiece cookie for an occasion and then make dozens of much simpler, coordinating cookies. The base is a round sugar cookie covered in MMF. I placed a smaller round cookie on top and covered it with melted chocolate and chocolate shavings. I molded MMF stones to surround this top cookie. The gray planter and the roses are MMF and the leaves are buttercream.

Elephants And Palm Trees
This is a cake that I made for my sister-in-law's birthday yesterday. She used to work with elephants at the zoo, hence the inspiration for the cake. It is a mocha cake with Bailey's Irish Cream filling. The details are piped in chocolate and the palm trees are Pirouette cookies with buttercream leaves.

Big Sister Sugar Cookies
My 20 month old niece is about to become a big sister any day now. I'm making a Happy Birthday cake for the new baby and wanted my niece to have something special just for her. These are MMF covered sugar cookies. One is stenciled with luster dust and the other just has a fondant ribbon rose. I'm new to cookies and I was happy with how these turned out!

Baby Beluga
This cake was for my son's second birthday party tonight. It was my first time molding with fondant (MMF) and the first cake I used fondant on outside of my Wilton class. It took me a LONG time to mold with it. I either need a lot more practice or maybe it's not for me. The whale took a couple of HOURS. But I loved how easily it draped on the cake and how impacting it was as "snow". The cake is a vanilla caramel cake with chocolate caramel ganache filling and caramel flavored buttercream.

Son's First Cake
Here is a picture of my 3 1/2 year old son's first cake. We used the care bear character pan (we really did ... there IS a care bear under all of that frosting and the sprinkles!) He had a great time with it and was only mildly sick from all of the frosting and sprinkles that he ate along the way!

My Son's First Fondant Sculpture
My 3 1/2 year old son wanted to make a special figure for his brother's birthday cake (my other son is turning 2 next week). He insisted on making a flamingo, so we got his little toy flamingo and I walked him through it, step by step. I told him what to make and gave him small pieces of fondant to work with and he molded everything. Then we assembled it together. He is so proud of himself!!! Now, I just have to figure out how a flamingo will fit in with the birthday theme!

Course 3 Stacked Cake
My Wilton instructor gave us free reign with the design of our final cake, providing we did it stacked or tiered. I used this chance to try gelatin flowers. I felt like I needed to do something on this cake that we learned in the course so I made the leaves in cornelli lace. I need to work on smooting my icing and will have to stack / tier a few more cakes before it feels natural but this was fun!
