Castlemaine XXXX (a brand of beer in the state of Queensland, Australia) themed FJ Holden Station Wagon cake. Made entirely out of home made fruit cake, home made almond paste, home made fondant, home made modelling paste. Created for NSW Challenge competition 2008. Won first prize, open section, novelty cake.
Found little jelly fish at a confectionary wholesaler I visited. Then I found this wonderful website and am completely inspired by all of the like-minded people I have found here. So I made this cake yesterday.
This was my wedding cake - about the 3rd serious cake I had made. I had grand plans, but in between working and co-making my wedding dress, I ran out of time. I was still really happy with this cake - having all my friends and family enjoy something I had made at my wedding was really special.
This was a 20cm dark fruit cake covered in fondant. I wasn't happy with the overall cake, but was impressed with the tree - a cone of fondant snipped at with embroidery scissors.
This cake was a 15cm and 20cm caramel mud cake covered in caramel frosting and fondant icing. The lilies and filler flowers were made from modeling paste. This was probably my 3rd or 4th cake.
