Here is a close up of the smash cake that i made by carving from the sports pan cake. It's a green fish because I used the blue from the buttercream and added green sparkles. Jellybeans for the eyes, sugar/water i boiled to 240 degrees and added little toothpicks so I could stick it into the cake. Turned out GREAT! The fins on the side I created using the candy Airheads. This was a fun cake to make.
Made a 2 tier cake and a fish smash cake for my son's 1st birthday. I really wanted to pipe buttercream fish and put more decorations on the cake but it was difficult so I went ahead and used goldfish crackers. The BC was not clinging to the italian meringue buttercream frosting. The smash cake is a fish carved from the sports pans.
