Hula Girl Doll Cake
This cake was for my daughter's 8th Bday. It is all chocolate cake using the 123 Gluten Free mix, which works great for layer cakes. For the doll, I used the insert from a Betty Crocker ball set, which is 6in - so I stacked it in 6 in rounds for height. The bottom layer is 8in rounds. It was very top heavy, so needed a lot of dowels to keep it together. The dancer still leaned a bit to the left, but it held together fine and made it to the party! Buttercream with fondant accents.

Barn Cake
I made this for my daughter's 5th birthday on Sat. I am happy with the way it turned out, but LOOOOOOTS of work! If I had know exactly how hard it is to get MMF red...I might not have done it! This is whimsical bakehouse choco chip pound cake with choco syrup icing as the filling. The barn is a sheet cake cut in quarters and stacked with a rice crispie treat roof.

Christmas Tree Cookies
These are my first fancy decorated cookies! I used royal icing - thick for outlining and thinned for flooding. I piped on the details at a flooding consistency while the cookies were still wet, then sprinkled the whole thing with disco dust. I am happy with the way they came out, but would like to make them a bit neater next time.

Fondant Birthday Cake Pink And Yellow
I made this cake for a friend's daughter's second B-day. It was made to match the invitations for the party. It was my first big fondant project and first time to stack cakes. I put a dowel down the center and drive it on a no slip mat with absolutely no mishaps! I was so relieved. The fondant is a little rippled on the top layer, but that was because I didn't get it on there right, not from transport. Other than that, I am pretty happy with how it turned out!

Halloween Cake With Chocolate Fondant
I did A LOT of planning for this cake and it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but I am pretty happy with it anyway. This is a devil's food cake with buttercream and chocolate fondant (from Cake Bible - very good, but HARD to work with). All the decorations are chocolate. This was made to match the napkins and plates for my daughters' Halloween party on Wed. Now I just have to find a way to store in until then!!!

Treasure Box Fondant Cake
This is one of 2 cakes for my daughter's princess and pirate birthday. This was my first time using fondant and it was a little tricky but worked well. The fondant is painted with a mixture of gel colors and lemon extract. It looks much shinier in the picture than it was in person.

Pink Princess Castle Birthday
This was one of two cakes for my daughter's princess/pirate birthday party. I really liked the way this turned out, but I was a bit too impatient and put the chocolate castle on the cake at home (instead of waiting until I transported it to the party). So, it cracked the cake and had to be supported by the wall behind it. Lesson learned. The letters are chocolate transfer. It is Julie's Less Sweet Buttercream (WOW) Darn Good Chocolate Cake (Cake Doctor) and Vanilla Mousse filling. The whole cake is sp

Purple Baby Shower Cake With Chocolate Transfers
I made this for a friend at work who just had a baby girl - Zoe, of course! I saw the design for the cupcake stand here on cake central - it is made from plates and cups which are glued together. The cupcakes are a mixture of chocolate and strawberry with Julie's Less Sweet Buttercream. The decortions are all chocolate transfer and everything is sprinkled with disco dust.

Chocolate Transfer Easter Cake
The decorations are all chocolate transfer - I love this technique!! The iciing is Buttercream - sprayed with color mist. This is the first time I have done that and I really like the result - except if you nick the icing after it is sprayed, forget trying to patch it! This is a strawberry cake with white chocolate mousse filling. Thanks for looking!!

Chocolate Transfer Baby Shower Ala Whimsical Bakehouse
I made this for a friend who just had twins (I have twins too, so I know how much she needs a cake right now!). This is chocolate transfer, which I think I am really starting to get the hang of. I just love it! The decorations come out so great! The cake is lemon with lemon mousse/raspberry filling and lemon/raspberry buttercream.

Baby Shower Chocolate Transfers From Whimsical Bakehouse
I think I finally have the hang of the Whimsical Bakehouse chocolate transfer method - I have done lots before, but i have never attempted ones with as much detail as these. Here is what I learned: you MUST use a good parchment bag, cut a VERY tiny hole, and then "write" with the tip just grazing teh parchment - almost like a fine felt tip pen. I always thought I was supposed to keep the tip high off the surface - this works, but you can't get any detail.

Sand Castle
I made this cake for a big family get together we are having at he beach this weekend. It is iced in Charlotte's Buttercream (with some butter, not all shortening, which is FABULOUS and pipes about a 7 on a scale of 1-10). THe sand castle was molded in teh wilton castle pan from peanut butter candy melts. The clouds and sun are chocolate transfer, and the fish and sea animals are gummies. The inside is a chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling (made with icing, not cream).

Cinderella Doll Cake
I made this for my daughter's third BDay tomorrow. I wanted to use a real doll, so I made a dome cake w/ BC Bake n Fill, then stacked that on an 8 inch layered round. I smoothed the frosting with parchment - the arm puffs were piped and then smoothed using a damp paint brush. I am pretty happy with it!! It is all buttercream - banana strawberry flavor - with banana strawberry cake on top, and vanilla on the bottom.

Sun Cake
I made this for two colleagues at work who are retiring. It is chocolate transfer with buttercream icing. This is my second sun like this and I think I improved on the first one. I used a parchment bag for the outline and I got a much finer line. The inside is a vanilla cake and white chocolate mousse filling. I also added sand and chocolate seashells when I took it to the party. I'll post that pic too. Thanks for looking!!

Sun Cake For A Party
I made this for a crawfish boil - it is a vanilla Dream Cake with Whimsical Bakehouse icing. The sun is chocolate transfer. It was a big hit. The star border is a bit unimaginative, but I was short on time. Square cake are much hard to ice than round ones!! I did not know that!! I think I will stick to the crusting buttercream from now on. It is so much easier to work with.
